So here is the first update on the head +more

The Crack in the head is located.. We did use Bycote crack indicator.

Now to the Bad part !!!

When i last used the car i heard some knocking sound just underneath the intake. didnt know then what it was. but now i know !!! Click here to enlarge

Im using Ross pistons with standard wrist pins.

And this is how the 6th cyl wrist pin looks like now.

I would call this luck.. should iv decided to keep running that motor with that knocking sound, it would been a lot more expensive when the wrist pin would fall apart..

now i need a new piston, and a new bearing for the rod.. and ofcourse heavy duty wrist pins.

The engine was making 940Nm in the engine at 2bars, when i removed the exhaust system the boost gaind 0.2-0.3 bars and that should result in around 1000nm in the engine.. that on standard ross wrist pins is overload..

However.. the engine has been running for 3years with this power.. so something should be worn out..

The season is over, and now starts the fun part.. building a stronger m20 Click here to enlarge

Glad you caught that early! That coating is pretty cool too, seems that crack would be impossible to spot without it.

So you have run around 29psi, what psi can that turbo support before becoming very inefficient?
      1. karel's Avatar
        karel -
yeah thats true Click here to enlarge

        yeah im running around 29-30psi

I havent got hold of the compressor map for this turbo so im really not sure.. with the 3" exhaust i dident go further the 30psi but on the track without the 3" it did some more.

Im running an standard 325i head now.. so i will port it and put som bigger valves in it. and then we can see if it will make any more the 2bar Click here to enlarge

But i think that 650whp on a 61mm trimm turbo is about max (there is though the same turbo but with an billet impeller might try findning one of those)

This is one of the most badass automotive pictures I've ever seen on the internet. That 60 ft was absolutely bananas. Are you planning on getting the PPF intake manifold?

Sorry to hear, collarbone, damn man, damn. I never want to experience that but I mean that is one you are going to feel every time your head, lay down, get up, basically do anything. Sucks, but at least you have the right attitude.

Stay off your feet...best thing you can do.

I have a friend of mine who broke his flying off his Honda Ruckus. Typical ignorant when it comes to using both brakes on a bike, I told him to do so and he never listened. Finally one day he hit the front brake hard like he usually does, and flipped over the handlebars and into a car door and broke his left collar bone.

Dumass still not listening and trying to drive his 5spd Nissan Maxima anyway. :shakes head:

I havent been in the garage since i broke my collor bone.. so i havent had time to do anything.. but im summing up an list for what to do..

        -Build an new intake
-new pistons / due to one got damaged when the wrist pin got in 2 pices
        -bigger exhaust system 3.5"
-rebuilding the ventilation on the zf gearbox
-maybe an new turbo !! 67mm trim ? Pt67 perhaps
-building an new head, with bigger valves and ported as well
-completing the roll cage, so i can tag the car to 7,50

running a low 9sec with split rear end and a zf gearbox is the goal.

        / karel

will update with pics as soon as i get started..
