This project was done by a user by the name of glenn-b from the UK. This is apparently his second swap. The car is also a beautiful Warsteiner racing M3 replica. The tuning was done utilizing the factory ECU. We await more details from the owner but in the mean time, bask in the awesomeness.
Any idea on weight diff between the S14 and the S62? (I know the 62 is heavier, looking for numbers).
We may do this swap as well on a race car, but i'll be damned to upset the perfect balance of the E30 M3.
Maybe I'll have to add 3 bags of sand to the trunk!! LOL

I cannot post links but search for "BMW E Numbers List" on Google.
S14 is 106 kg while the S62 is 158 kg. People have done this but in a race car
you might want to move it further back.
Another challenge will be for the driver handling the torque in such a light car!
Just a quick note.. this seems to be a bit shaky, because the S65 is not going to be 202kg... unless this is longblock vs a full engine with headers and trim/fluids.
Probably not but putting an LS1 into a BMW is just wrong.
Putting a LS1 in a E30 is wrong how ???
motor is a lot lighter, standalone issues are much less hassle, the motor will sit further back, most of the weight will be transferred under the car thus making it a great handling car (yes, the T56 is a heavy unit, but not really much heavier than a G420/520).
I see no issues with a LSx motor in a E30 or E36, i think they are great motors that lack the frame around it, hence BMW (the perfect car) is a real good candidate
*edit*
Not to mention the price of each hp in a LSx vs M62/S62

I totally agree, but for someone who is making a track machine on a budget... a LSx motor in a E30 or E36 chassis would be one of the best things to do...
