BMW getting ready to respond to the new S-Class with lighter and meaner next generation 2015 7-Series - Spyphotos
The current BMW 7-Series is an absolutely beautiful car but it does not measure up to its competitors in several key areas. The main one is performance as BMW has no answer for the 2014 S63 AMG
or the Audi S8
. Even against the standard V8 models the 750 is found to be a bit lacking just due to its immense heft. The good news is BMW is aiming to cut the curb weight from 4200+ depending on options to the 3700 range for the base rear wheel drive model.
Essentially, BMW is hoping to cut about 500 pounds from the car. Will that happen? It is an ambitious goal but BMW is showing with the new M3/M4 that they are getting serious about trimming the fat. We can at least be certain it will be lighter than the current model.
It is also looking increasingly more likely that an M7 will come with this next generation car
. This new 7-Series should address all complaints with the current model and offer strong competition. Spyphotos below.
