• Auto Express laptime comparison between the Porsche 991 Turbo S to the Nissan GTR

These two vehicles are going to be compared very often as the similarities can not be denied. Both vehicles are only available with dual clutch transmission, both have all wheel drive, and both have twin turbocharged six-cylinder powerplants. The base 991 Turbo seems to be the better comparison for the Nissan GTR but the more powerful and more expensive 991 Turbo S is what Auto Express decided to pit against the GTR.

So which car came out on top? Well, the track comparison is flawed as it appears to be raining. Both cars have all wheel drive so it is not a huge issue but it would be best to see the cars show their best in the dry. The GTR does a 1:09:30 laptime. The Porsche 991 Turbo S beats it with a 1:08:90. It's very close and clearly the better driver will win.

How scientific is this with wet conditions and the driver talking the whole time during his lap? And what, only one lap with each car? Why not have a professional driver do several laps?

Make of it what you will but it is typical weak Auto Express.

The 911 lap appeared a lot smoother than that of the GT-R, even though it apparently had the worse conditions to contend with.

I would take the 911 over the GTR any day of the week.

I'm not sure who wouldn't. It's just a question of money really that makes the GTR appealing in this context.
