Picture renderings of the production version of the 2014 BMW i8 Spyder
With the recently revealed BMW i8 2+2 coupe
it follows that the production version of the spyder will be next. BMW already revealed the i8 Spyder concept last year
but the final version will likely have the exact same styling changes as the coupe. Expect similar lights, doors, body panels, and wheels. Dropping the top also means the i8 will get a bit heavier due to the additional motors to stow the top and the chassis reinforcements that need to be applied.
BMW quoted a weight of 3593 pound for the i8 Spyder so it will be interesting to see if the production version meets that target. Considering the coupe weighs in at 3285 pounds, BMW may even realistically beat that target.
