• BimmerBoost member runs 11 second F10 M5 1/4 mile without launch control on street tires with pump gas in summer weather

      Here are some impressive results from BimmerBoost member Tom C who took his F10 M5 to the dragstrip. The car is basically stock short of Supersprint mufflers and K&N filters. He ran on the stock Michelin tires, stock tune, stock turbos, stock downpipes, stock wheels, and even 93 octane pump gas. The result? 11.835@120.870 without utilizing launch control. That is very impressive performance and essentially repeatable on the street.

      What makes it even more impressive is the 82 degree summer weather making for a density altitude of 2032 feet. That is not what BimmerBoost.com would call favorable drag racing conditions. Would he be able to make back to back passes with the same result at this density altitude and temp? No, but we all know the F10 M5 is good for short acceleration blasts and not extended track runs.

      Excellent street tire and pump gas results, well done @Tom C. In winter weather this car likely has mid 11 capability.

        Very nice. Numbers can only improve from there, as you say those arn't favorable drag conditions.

        Nice numbers. I know that the DA does add a few tenths for sure on these sets ups.

        Great run! Someone on another site just ran an 11.68 at a similar trap speed, slightly better conditions. These things are crazy fast, I think they might have even more potential than we thought at first.

        Regarding the non-repeatability...I would have agreed up till last night. Then I read this article:

        http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/t...no-tested.html

        That, and the fact that apparently there is a 26 page manual alone for how put this car on a dyno, leads me to believe that there is more here than heat soak. I mean, its quite obvious that if after multiple hard pulls, the intercoolers aren't even that warm to the touch, we are seeing some strange things happening here.

        I'd still take the AMG. I like the power delivery curve much better than the m5!

        Better IC amigo Sticky would give him less heat soaking, dont you think so. I bet you he would of have shaven a second or so wiht a bigger IC

        Thanks guys!

        I am scheduled to do a rental at MIR in November which should be negative DA conditions. Hopefully they do some good track prep and I can get the 60' time down. I might also lower the tire pressure a bit to help out with the launch. I might also play with Launch Control to see if that can help improve the times.

        Eurocharged is opening a DC location and they have lowered their F10 ECU tune to $1,499 for an Open House on 9/15. The fact that their location is only about 1/2 hour away for support is really making think about doing this....so I might have a tune at the track rental.

        @Jake@Eurocharged.com

        Go for the software man, just do it. Eurocharged is the best value in the game.

        Also, @Tom C, if you are going to use launch control you will really want drag rubber.
