Next generation 2015-2016 BMW 5-Series already spotted testing, spyphotos - F10 replacement will focus on lightweight materials
Doesn't it feel like the F10 5-Series just got here? BMW seems to be in a hurry to move past it perhaps because the F10 has not exactly been gloriously received. Complaints about the steering feel as well as the incredible heft (it's freaking fat
) along with very reserved styling gives the F10 a bit of a bland feel. Not BMW's best 5-Series ever but BMW seems set to make the next one much better and that is great news for everyone.
Here is the next gen 5-Series testing in wagon form (no internal chassis code revealed yet) and reports state BMW intends to focus on weight savings. Finally, someone at BMW wakes up. The next gen 5-Series will heavily utilize lightweight materials including CFRP. Efficiency is at a premium and a great way to make a car more efficient is to make it lighter. Now this if true is real Efficient Dynamics not just marketing.
Expect a three cylinder motor to make its way into the 5-Series as well just likely not for the US market. Spyphotos/Pictures below.
