    • M156 versus M156, Black Series versus Black Series, Weistec versus Weistec - Supercharged Stage III+ 1000+ horsepower CLK63 AMG BS and 750+ horsepower Stage III C63 AMG BS go at it

Some very interesting sibling rivalry to see here especially for M156 V8 63 AMG enthusiasts. Both cars here are Black Series with the W209 CLK63 AMG Black Series obviously being the older of the two using the 7G transmission with a torque converter and the W204 C63 AMG Black Series being the newer car featuring the newer 7-speed MCT Speedshift automatic which does not have a torque converter. Both cars have the M156 6.2 liter V8 although the C63 AMG Black Series has stronger engine internals and makes more power from the factory.

The internals are strong for the C63 Black Series which still runs the factory engine internals but the CLK63 Black Series has a Weistec built motor setup with forged internal engine components. Those components are said to be good for over 1000 horsepower making them stronger than what the C63 AMG has from the factory.

Regardless, both cars also employ the 3.0 liter twin screw blower used in Weistec Stage III supercharged applications. The difference being one is making much more boost as the C63 AMG is said to be somewhere around 11 psi. What boost and other mods the CLK runs is anyone's guess as the owner tends to be difficult to deal with thinking his car is the fastest thing on planet Earth whose setup should be treated with the same secrecy as nuclear launch codes as if on the same level of importance. The CLK is likely somewhere in the 9XX rear wheel horsepower range while the C63 is somewhere in the upper 6XX wheel horsepower range.

So, on one hand we have similar base motors, although one built with aftermarket components, both running the same supercharger. On the other hand we have one car which has a Weistec built "Bulletproof" AMG 722.9 7G transmission while the other has the factory AMG 7-speed MCT. Weight is close from the factory but the CLK has been lightened quite a bit so that works in its favor. The CLK is tuned for race gas though while the C63 is tuned for pump gas.

So what is the result? Well, not hard to guess but nice to see the comparison between the two cars. Video below.

Maybe the article was more focused at the nasty comments you decided to include that you missed the plot of what you should have written and the tech and specs became secondary.

        Now George that is funny.

It is expected that the article would be light and inaccurate on technical detail when the author did not even bother to show up at a dinner he organised for the night before the event. The author could have sat down and discussed the car with said CLK owner and gotten the actual facts rather than making assumptions.

We were happy the sun was out both days. Not a single cloud for the event. As a matter a fact, we couldn't help but notice everyone spraying on the sun screen to avoid getting burned from the ultraviolet rays. At this point we realized how lucky we were. The CLK has been running our new solar power system which is clearly making tons of power. The sound you hear is actually beats by dre under the car. No engine. The "carbon fiber" roof isn't actually carbon fiber. It's NASA solar material.

Now you see why everyone was so secretive?

To clarify, the dinner i was referring to was at no fly....combining this with the last event, you could have written a nice unbiased article.

        Ouch!

Jim might be abrasive at times but lets give him and Weistec some much deserved credit. The car is an absolute beast regardless if you have issues with the owner. As a community we would all love to know the exact mods/boost on the vehicle but if the owners chooses not to disclose that is his prerogative.

        Just my .02

I know you fancy yourself as a journalist and this site as a sort of news media outlet. But a good journalist would ever insult someone as overtly as you did here. Very unprofessional IMO. Especially when you know that the person you are insulting cannot currently comment. And also, writing an article about a car that you do not 100% know the specs of makes no sense to me. Jim, Earl and Weistec have said many times that these new developments on the CLK will be released in due time. Speculating about it while discrediting the owner seems a bit spiteful on your part.
        I'd strongly consider revising it.

Amazing powerful cars! Love them both. Those AMGs sure put on a show everywhere they go. The looks, the sounds, the speed - just the complete package.

        Luke,

I hope he listens to you but in his eyes he is never wrong. My guess Joe thinks the article is fine as is and will defend it even though the person he is speaking of, can not.

Quite sad actually when the only way we can speak is to stop coming to the site.

        Joseph,

I'm not trying to get in an argument. You can see from the history of my posts that I don't argue much. Though I have to say, those comments above are really and truly unnecessary bro. I know you had a heated discussion with Jrcart, but imagine yourself in his shoe now reading those comments about him. I know I wouldn't like it myself.
I am sure days will come and go and you two will get along just fine. I say calm it down and lets not heat it up.

Do you have any idea how many run videos will be articles? I don't put them all up at once they are spaced out. That WILL be an article.

Why not let me handle it, ok?

Maybe, but I think I nailed the tech specs. And the article is accurate. I think I would lean more toward funny than nasty. I didn't sit there calling him an arrogant pompous douchebag just poking fun at how he talks about his setup. Both would work btw.
