• 2013 Formula Season kicks off, Australian Grand Prix results - Mercedes shows some life

      The 2013 Formula 1 season is officially underway after the running of the Australian Grand Prix this pas weekend. The season is off to an interesting start with Kimi Raikkonen and the Lotus team taking the victory. Raikkonen qualified in sixth and what helped was his two stop pit strategy extending his tires quite a bit. Mercedes-AMG showed they can challenge as at point early on Lewish Hamilton and Nico Rosberg led the race 1-2.

      Fernando Alonso finished in finished in second place for Ferrari with Sebastian Vettel in third place for Red Bull Racing. Hamilton ended up in 5th place and Rosberg unfortunately was not able to finish due to car trouble. Mercedes did look strong at times hopefully they are able to build off it and keep the cars reliable. The next race in Malaysia next week. Will be interesting to see how the teams respond and adjust.

        I can't believe how $#@!ty McLaren is right now. How they went from having the fastest car last year to being two seconds off the pace is beyond me.

        Seems like there is going to be quite a bit of adjusting.

        And for those of you who missed it (like me), there's a replay of it tonight on NBS Sports (Direct TV ch 220) at 9pm PT.
        Great to see Lotus taking a win and continuing to improve from a great showing last season.
