• BMW's planned products for the 2014 model year in the USA - F22 2-Series (220i, 228i, M235i), diesel wagon, and new F15 X5

This is going to be a big year for BMW in the USA as many models are added and some are replaced. The current X5 will be getting replaced by its next generation F15 sibling as production will start in August. This was well known but another piece of exciting news is that an all new car will be available for sale as a 2014 model and that will be the F22 2-Series. This car is based on the F20 1-Series platform that is not available for sale in the USA due to the perceived notion that we Americans hate hatchbacks.

Expect the 2-Series to come as a 220i and 228i both sharing the N20 turbo four-cylinder motor in different states of tune as the F30 3-Series does now. The exciting bit of news though is that the 2-Series will get an M235i variant. Not a dedicated "M" car so to speak but a sporty version similar to the F20 M135i. This means a 320 horsepower N55 turbo inline-6 motor and likely a 6-speed manual as well as automatic option.

In other news a diesel wagon will be available by the end of the year as BMW will bringing its 2.0 liter turbo diesel four-cylinder to the USA. Expect this motor to make its way into a bunch of cars including the X1.

The 2014 USA model year is going to be packed for BMW looks like.

M2 is also supposedly in the pipeline as a successor to the 1M Coupe in 2015. I think there might be Gran Coupe versions of the 2 series line and M2 also coming sometime after the 2 series in introduced but I am not sure whether that is 2014 or 2015.

M135i sounds tempting but I think I'll hold out for the M2.

from the infos i have now i would go for the 235i. The M2 PROBABLY will be a 4cyl so investing in some propre mods for the 235i(6cyl) could even beat a modded M2. (The M2 engine will be quiet pushed to its limits by factory).

It will be interesting to see what the motor is. To answer the CLA45 AMG and Audi RS3 it likely will be a four-cylinder.

In the 90s BMW and Mercedes did bring hatchbacks here and they didn't sell at all. The problem is, they were pieces of junk. The 318ti and C230k were only available with the smallest USA-spec motors and weren't styled as hatches, they just looked like the regular sedans that had been rear-ended. A true hatchback with a powerful motor will absolutely sell well here, but these two companies are afraid to take the risk again and it's a damn shame. I personally don't mind because I rarely carry any cargo and prefer coupes, but there's definitely more of a market for an M135i than there is for a 5GT!

They better fix those awful headlights for the coupe.

The rear looks real weird on the render, like the wheel is to small and the fender drops off. They need to fix those headlights....

Sounds promising but I think they will be very careful not to make the m2 that quick.....you have to watch those m3/m4 sales Click here to enlarge

I vote for a detuned M3/4 engine. Unfortunately my vote doesn't count. ...Click here to enlarge

Starting a family so been looking at SUV/wagon hoping they bring wagons back. Gt3 and x1 aren't the best looking options.
