      So, retirement from professional racing for Michael Schumacher is not all that bad. As you know Schumacher announced his retirement from Formula 1 last year after Mercedes-Benz signed Lewis Hamilton. There were questions as to whether Schumacher would move to another series or take on some other capacity. Schumacher will officially take up a role which has not been specified with Mercedes-Benz road cars although one can assume he will be doing test driving and giving feedback much in a similar manner to Walter Rohrl for Porsche.

      Schumacher will also spend time as a brand ambassador for Mercedes-Benz as well as AMG and likely be a figure at debuts and parties for Mercedes-Benz. Not all that bad of a gig after being one of the best drivers in the world, eh?

        Merc loses their chassis guy AND gains schumie... looks like a good future ahead for them then.

        little of column a, little of column b haha.. i see schumacher is a big gain, and 'loss of chassis guru' to be recoverable.

        Schumacher is just a publicity toy to be trotted out for the most part. He's no chassis engineer...

        I'd hope with years of racing experience he'd be a fairly decent and helpful test driver :/

        I know I'm just saying he doesn't make up for the loss but it's obviously cool to have him.

        Gaining Schumi is a good hit for AMG & Merc image .

        But loosing that engineer to BMW & VW is a bad move from technical point of view and also makes pretty bad for their image.
