It's a 4 wheel drive Tesla S, so on normal roads it's gonna have an advantage in grip.
On a dragstrip this changes due to the grip every opponent is gonna have.
And in this case a dedicated opponent driver.
The Tesla is always gonna lose on top speed, just because it does not have enough of it. It tops out at 200km/h, and struggles on the last part, despite it's 400Nm torque.
This Tesla is a novelty, nothing more.
A full battery charge takes 14.5 hours, no actual numbers are known as to how long you can use the car at max power on one battery charge, the car's performance declines when the battery charge is less then 100%, those facts make every drag video you see with a Tesla a glory run. Any second run with the car the performance declines.
This car is just irrelevant. It's a treehugger's wet dream.

Their point should of been we raced a TUNED RENNtech E63 and we came close in beating them, then that, would of been GREAT news instead of MISLEADING it!! WTF Tesla get your sheit together MISREPRESENTATION will get you nowhere in SALES Stupid FA:LKS!!

Looks pretty similar to the other video. Tesla takes the lead, and somewhere around 70+mph the gas powered car pulls away.

The false start sure does suck and skew things though. You'd think if someone setup that many camera, they'd at least get one good run...

The redlight is what gives that impression on the E63 is on street tires. Even so though a properly launched E63 will rip it out of the hole and put bus-lengths on it.

The video you posted is the result. Anyone who thinks their stock E63 AMG is going to have its way with the Model S Performance at the drag strip is apt to be surprised. The cars are very evenly matched in the 1/4 mile, and the Model S always jumps out to a big lead.

But thinking that watching a Model S get spanked by a 700hp tuner car somehow is invalidating "propaganda", is just somewhat divorced from reality. A stock E63 would be manhandled just as readily.

Running up to 110 mph is not a full 1/4 mile for the E63, sorry. Take a look at its trap speed.

The E63 will run 11's stock at close to 120 and the Tesla world record is a 110 trap speed. How is that evenly matched? That's such a large spread it isn't much of a race unless the E63 owner is asleep at the light or running skewed races like what we have seen. Funny how a real race at the strip, with a real launch, results in spin from you.

Right, the Tesla Model S is faster than a Viper SRT-10, F10 M5, or E63 AMG. I love the world you live in. The problem is, I live on Earth, where each of those mentioned cars will beatdown the Tesla Model S as it runs away in shame to find a wall charger after a couple passes.

It's a nice engineering exercise. It isn't anywhere near as capable of a performance platform as this E63 AMG just demonstrated.

Maybe it wins in 100 foot drag races because it has 700 ft-lbs of torque at 0 rpm and that only lasts about 1 second then power drops off like a fat kid on crack. Ever seen the torque curve of an electric motor? it's worse than a diesel.

This is the same E63 biturbo in stock form. I think it still beats the Model S. I'm friends with the owner and race with him all the time. He has even ran my E55 down the strip. And he did NOT race the S and run and get a tune.

I would be afraid to buy a Tesla. Look at what happened to Fiskar. One shot ponies are too risky. 3 different battery options doesnt make a car line.

The Tesla is a way cool car. Fisker is pretty much done I think.
