SoCal BMW fans, we have a problem - Mfest 2013 versus Bimmerfest 2013 - Mfest (Chris Naguit) specifically targets same date as BimmerFest

Whether things happened three years ago or not they did happen and it was enough for many people to choose not to attend.

it does matter sticky. because people are going to believe or assume that this happened recently and was not resolved or corrected when in fact it was. state all of the facts that you know of so folks can make an informed decision. that is my point.

And the fact about it being a cash grab for Chris is clear.

Clear how? do you know what the rate is to reserve the Las vegas motor speedway for two days? do you know what the discounted rate is for the rooms is? if there is a down payment needed to hold such a reservation? what the cost is to reserve the hall needed to hold an event like MFest? you have presented no facts to the allegations thrown. now do not get me wrong, i am not saying he is nOT making some sort of a profit but i think it comes from the T-Shirts, hats, stickers, hoodie sweaters and such and losses it on renting out the speedway.

And the fact he scheduled it at the same time as BimmerFest is also clear.

This is a Ridiculous statement! again, i do not know MFest Chris or tony and the bimmerfest guys. what i do know is that Mfest Chris PARTICIPATES in bimmerfest? so WHY would he do something like "purposefully" book MFest in direct conflict with bimmerfest? makes no sense unless you know something i do not. on top of that, MFest Chris released his dates 4 WEEKS BEFORE BIMMERFEST 2013. thankfully he had a plan B in place and was able to get all the contracts signed. i do not know why you and a few other California guys do not believe anything MFest Chris has said. Feels like there is ALOT more to this than your letting on.

Gee and who do you think that should be?

Personally, I thought i should have been Bimmerfest. for two reasons.

1. its a One-day 8 hour meet so it should be easier to swap days from the 18th of May to the 25th or the 11th of MAY

2. 75% of the sponsors attend BOTH show / event so i am sure they would support a change in date for either as long as its back to back weekends.

so as of today we Now know Mfest was the one who changed there dates for the following weekend now on Memorial day weekend.

my other question to you is did you post this 3 YEARS AGO when it happened? and if so, and it was corrected why post this again NOW during a time when the issue of the two events is heating up?

seems CNN like in its clear intent to misinform or misguide the public.

or intentional spread misinformation by not releasing all the facts.

either way what happened was unfortunate but it is stale old news similar to beating a dead horse. it bothers me the way it does because you are demoralizing an event that has no rival. for the BMW community there is nothing Like MFest in North America.

tx2k is the closest i can think of but its mainly for the Toyota Supra guys or atleast its who i saw dominated the early events before other tuners wanted to compete that were non toyota's.

not trying to argue but have an informational debate to make sure all the facts are on the table. i hope you understand and do not take me personally.

I don't like to talk $#@! but I never hesitate to on M Fest. All they do is park their cars in parking lots. I've never seen any of them drive on a track, let alone a 1/4 mile track or 60-130/highway races. I heard from some vendors they won't be going back this year as nobody sold $#@! in Vegas and was a waste of money. I've only been to bimmerfest once but it did seem like a cooler meet.

One has to navigate to a forum and sub-forum to find any date info. In my eyes, posting a date in a forum does not make an event “official”. Where are the details, most importantly, why can’t people register right now if was “officially” announced back in early Jan?? Why the need to change their dates now if MFest announced their dates “officially” first? I attended my very 1st Bimmerfest last year and was blown away. Class act. 2500+ BMWs, CEO of BMW NA speaking to the crowd, educating us on the future of BMW and ///M and answering any question from anyone. The sponsors.....wow!!!!! It was insane how many sponsors were there and all the great heavy hitting ones too. Personally, I feel a big fat egg on my face from MFest as I just wanted to spread the word to fellow enthusiasts about an annual event and they pull all this crap. So I apologize to everyone for that for helping build the hype for MFest and it certainly wasn’t my intent to lead you astray. If you go, you will have a great time I’m sure and see a crap load of ///Ms and have a great time in Vegas. Chris - being part of the caravan is a good part of the experience and it is fun so you don’t want to miss that on any account if you go. Just be careful on the road and watch all around you. There will be a ton of ///Ms on the road and it seemed like a lot had something to try to prove. I value my dollar more now being retired and a stay at home Dad. Perhaps I was more care free when I still worked. Now I’m like “what am I truly getting for my $$$”. Or “this $$ spent here could be towards another mod-lol). Having attended the past 3 or 4 ///MFests, the Bimmerpost article was pretty spot on from my perspective. I don’t want to discourage anyone on going as you can attend both now with the date change. I say again you will have a blast for sure and it will be a fun experience. MFest is traditionally held in Apr and it is already pretty insanely hot. I can’t imagine being there at the Las Vegas Speedway (no shade) for MFest in late May, especially tracking in that heat. Traffic will be insane for Memorial Day weekend (the I-15 can get pretty crowded to/from Vegas any weekend). For us SoCal guys, try to imagine the border checkpoint coming back on Sun or Mon....From my perspective, seeing the lack of responses on the MFest forum with the new “date” announcement kinda says a big statement. Like ACG said, there will always be a following for MFest regardless. I don’t think a lot of folks are happy at how at how this all unfolded and especially the new dates and the challenges they bring. I look forward to seeing a lot of you with a great year of runs, some track days thrown in, ECFest and Bimmerfest.

How is it stirring things up to post the truth? Not even my words, from PEOPLE who attended Mfest and got screwed over HARDCORE. Just because you $#@!ed someone over 3 years ago doesn't mean you didn't do it. Sorry, basically robbing people doesn't have a 3 year expiration date.

Additionally, you know how you stir things up and cause a divide? By purposely picking the same date in an attempt to force people to you for more money and try to squeeze the other guy out. Go ahead, spin this. TRY.

Why is Mfest the one having to change their date and not BimmerFest? Because one is in the wrong and the other isn't.

Does not matter it shows exactly what took place at Mfest. It happened. It's real. It isn't my fault Mfest screwed up to such a large degree.

And what, I'm supposed to reward them for it? I paid for my ticket and posted my experience. Simple as that.

I will also quote the sales figures for a specific vendor versus what they paid to attend. You want to keep pushing?

no i do not have the figures of what was charged by mfest previous to 2012. i remember what i paid last year. seemed reasonable to me. you obviously have much more information you could have shared with sophomores like myself so were well informed right here on one thread, in one forum and not have to research 5 forums and hundreds of pages of thread material that is circumstantial.

in any case, if i lived closer to SoCal i would participate in Bimmerfest 2013 but i am too far to justify a one day meet. maybe bimmerfest east i can swing because a large majority of my immediate family reside in the NYC so that i can justify.

i will pay more attention to the 5Ws surrounding MFest VII and have a face 2 face with chris in person cause i am much better at reading a face then reading between the lines ;-)

Orange, because my kids Love Orange and they get a kick out seeing how daddy did that! lol, my favorite color remains Blood Red

This would be my first article that points out my Mfest experience only because of what Chris did in targeting BimmerFest.

Frankly, I've taken a lot of pics of Mfest 'modded cars' and posted about them so... um, ya.
