It seems Mercedes caught Audi off-guard and Audi did not think Mercedes would squeeze so much power from their four-cylinder. So, modifications are coming as Reil stated, "Itís OK to make those kinds of numbers with a competition engine, but in standard production engines that need to cope with all sorts of different conditions? But competition is competition and thatís what makes it a fun business to be in. The five-cylinder engine has to be EU6-compliant and we have to modify it."
So, Audi wants to be EU6 emissions compliant with the motor but will also take the opportunity to modify it for more power. It will be interesting to see what they come up with and AudiBoost believes they will easily outpower the Mercedes motor. The 2.5 TFSI simply does not have to be as highly strung as the Mercedes 2.0 liter four banger.
