      The new N20 four-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged and direct injected motor continues to impress. Under the hood of the E84 X1 it propels the lightweight all wheel drive SUV/Crossover to 60 miles per hour in 6.2 seconds and through the 1/4 mile in 14.9@93. Not blazing fast numbers but quicker than several V8 powered crossovers and SUV's. With the light curb weight the X1 offers pretty good performance. Not too long ago V8 X5's were offering similar acceleration before the V8 got turbos.


      With a base price of $33,345 the X1 also is a fairly good value for an all wheel drive and turbo crossover. The X1 being built on the 3-Series platform is more of a raised wagon though than a true SUV. Still, light weight, good handling, and a great motor make for a very nice all around package.

        I drove the N20 in a loaner car 6 months ago and liked the engine alot. N20+8speed ZF is a great combo.

        It's a really well done motor. Interesting to see the new Benz 4-cylinder though that should crush it. Audi's new 300 horse 2.0T is a beast as well.

        Exactly. I'm waiting to see what that 2.0 litre 350 hp AMG engine does. The one that is in CLA AMG I think. Not sure. I saw the car on 405 near huntington beach last week. It was al covered up but cool nonetheless.

        Not a fan of the looks but the price and performance are nice.

        Yeah, I'm thinking of getting the X1 Xdrive35i. I can quit DDing the EVO and I test drove one last month. It was pretty fun to drive for an SUV. I was going to get the next gen Mustang when it came out but I think I'd prefer to just drive this and race my EVO.
