• Trouble in paradise? Vishnu/FFtec N54 335ii Single Turbo kits experiencing issues as a BimmerBoost member runs 12.5@121 with misfires and having to short shift

BimmerBoost would like to thank member GeorgiaTech335Coupe for his openness and honesty regarding his Vishnu/FFTEC single turbo setup. Recently, this member took his single turbo upgraded 6-speed manual 335i to the PBIR (Palm Beach International Raceway) dragstrip in Florida to do some testing. His best run was a 12.50@121.6 alongside a 12.8@117. Yes, these times are quite a ways away from the 10.8@131 glory pass from Vishnu demonstrating the kits capability.

This is in no way the fault of GeorgiaTech335Coupe who experienced misfires on his car and had to short shift at 6300 rpm in order to avoid them. Now, Vishnu has basically portrayed this kit as perfect and ready for sale with nobody having any issues. The reason BimmerBoost is bringing this issue to the attention of the community is for potential buyers to understand what they are getting into.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having issues when modifying a car to this level and BimmerBoost is confident Vishnu will resolve them. There is something wrong with pretending nothing is wrong. A few cars with the single turbo kits have gone up for sale and apparently a total of three people, that are willing to open their mouths, are having misfire issues with these kits.

These issues will no doubt get resolved but potential buyers and current customers needs to be aware of the process, effort, and that progress is being made. Pretending nothing is wrong and collecting money simply is the wrong way to go about this and once again (it's becoming a trend) BimmerBoost is the only site bringing these issues to the attention of the community.

For the record, a member by the name of @tmo335tt says he has a hardware solution for the misfires that he will likely share with Vishnu (hopefully not for free). Interesting that it isn't Vishnu but the community solving this.

Thanks again to @GeorgiaTech335Coupe for sharing his details, good or bad, as we all learn thanks to honesty and openness. There is more to tuning than just collecting money.

        You are welcome.
I didn't doubt you, I said you're a troll. I was wrong though, you're actually a HUGE troll as evidenced by this post. Now I am trolling you, but that's mainly because I have run out of patience for your milking every ounce of attention at a fix that shouldn't have even been an issue in the first place. Why were you running the stock flywheel in the first place? You spend 10k on a turbo kit and buy two cars (this is also pretty dumb especially since one was an AT....), but don't upgrade the clutch?? Click here to enlarge Sorry, that's my troll post, wish I could live up to the 10 pages you laid down.

Anyone attempting to run a single in these should have a twin disk going in as a single turbo kit support mod, mandatory. I've seen a DMFW exit the bellhousing on a car with a flash/DP's....really asking for it trying to run 10's on a single disc and DMfw. nuts...that explanation is an amusing HYPOTHESIS at best...would be the first time i've ever heard of such a thing lol...and I've been around enough to know.proof is pudding people.

        im sure

@tmo335tt can help you.. i mean, he has all the required hardware, obvious by the supercool photo posted. and the fact he can tear into the motor, find, search, order, recieve, install and evaluate conclusivley what the problem was and is now rectified within MINUTES of the post being made

        what do ya say TMO?

Now I am not a car expert or anything but a flywheel causing misfires...? I really hope they test this and it works out because by nature it sounds a wee bit ridiculous.

Hey Troll boy...check out drag times...i'm willing to bet that my AT is faster than your car. Please post your time slips.

My ST car is fixed, I could care less what you guys think.

probably a snap-on vantage tutorial screenshot of "his is what a bad crank signal looks like" lmao...I dont have the patience, time nor desire to look back through this glorious novel of tragedy atm, but i sure hope it's dual trace and shows cam sig in relation...move that cursor to where he interference begins lol

Lol. I am sure it is. That being said, I didn't buy two cars, spend 10k on a turbo kit, and now 2k on a clutch, just to get 125whp more than an fbo car, so I am not worrying about it too much. Troll on.

It would be nice if we could keep this discussion purely technical and respectful for the sake of problem solving...but for some odd reason I think I may be asking too much on the internet.

You read my mind. As long as we are discussing and not telling other about solutions then not Sharon. That was my point entirely.

so this "fix" doesn't apply to chronically misfiring 6ATs?

MAYBE in an unachievable utopian-like society producers would be more forthright in providing more detailed feedback on issues re these single cars...then those with useful input could coalesce a USEFUL directive into SOLVING said "phantom" problems. All the basic ingredients are there for producing real power reliably, yet every attempt i've seen to date seems to be lacking true evidence or consistent operation...people dump thousands of dollars into these things for relatively sup-par results in the grand scheme of things...there is a common thread in all these instances, I refuse to believe it any other way...all the steps taken to topple the high hp barrier result in a lot of talk and no results...just static. Many heads are better than a few (well, the right heads). These are incredibly intelligent cars, It's obviously no easy task to go up against the DME and get real numbers without conflict, there's 30 times the engineers working in unison across the pond that have integrated these cars in incredible ways than there are here trying to get a single turbo to work right...the game gets harder with every new model year. I'd love to see some real tech discussion into the REAL manner(s) @ hand...I expect too much from the web i suppose.
