• Trouble in paradise? Vishnu/FFtec N54 335ii Single Turbo kits experiencing issues as a BimmerBoost member runs 12.5@121 with misfires and having to short shift

BimmerBoost would like to thank member GeorgiaTech335Coupe for his openness and honesty regarding his Vishnu/FFTEC single turbo setup. Recently, this member took his single turbo upgraded 6-speed manual 335i to the PBIR (Palm Beach International Raceway) dragstrip in Florida to do some testing. His best run was a 12.50@121.6 alongside a 12.8@117. Yes, these times are quite a ways away from the 10.8@131 glory pass from Vishnu demonstrating the kits capability.

This is in no way the fault of GeorgiaTech335Coupe who experienced misfires on his car and had to short shift at 6300 rpm in order to avoid them. Now, Vishnu has basically portrayed this kit as perfect and ready for sale with nobody having any issues. The reason BimmerBoost is bringing this issue to the attention of the community is for potential buyers to understand what they are getting into.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having issues when modifying a car to this level and BimmerBoost is confident Vishnu will resolve them. There is something wrong with pretending nothing is wrong. A few cars with the single turbo kits have gone up for sale and apparently a total of three people, that are willing to open their mouths, are having misfire issues with these kits.

These issues will no doubt get resolved but potential buyers and current customers needs to be aware of the process, effort, and that progress is being made. Pretending nothing is wrong and collecting money simply is the wrong way to go about this and once again (it's becoming a trend) BimmerBoost is the only site bringing these issues to the attention of the community.

For the record, a member by the name of @tmo335tt says he has a hardware solution for the misfires that he will likely share with Vishnu (hopefully not for free). Interesting that it isn't Vishnu but the community solving this.

Thanks again to @GeorgiaTech335Coupe for sharing his details, good or bad, as we all learn thanks to honesty and openness. There is more to tuning than just collecting money.

I find it hard to believe 3 is just a coincidence on such a small sample size.

We didn't know JMARS' car had the issue until last week when we tried to dyno it.

I'm not sure when the other guy found his issue, but it is fairly recent.

It would seem that is a respectful gesture to allow the tuner to have a chance to fix an issue before letting the world know. It's not without reason that there will be speed bumps on the way. Having said all that, I know we will all be frustrated if it takes a long time to resolve, so let's hope not. Plus that way everyone else will actually get to see what these cars can really do outside of Shiv's car. I will personally get 60-130 times, 1/4 mi times, and run against some other high powered cars for all you guys to see when the car is running flawlessly (or good enough to make it worth it).
When JMARS took me for a spin after Fixxfest it went into limp mode and shut down. I will tell you one thing, it was fast as hell until it went into limp!

For testing, it will be OK. But as a permanent solution, no. The issue needs to be resolved with all the cars safety features intact. This will better the community as a whole as it could very well be power dependant along with other conditions, which means it could rear its ugly head on other upgrades.
The misfire doesn't happen at lower boost.

What caused it to go limp? Someone could make a joke about seeing Shiv's face making the car and everyone in it go limp but let's be mature damn it.

There were two. georgiatech335i's and JMARS. JMARS Procede was VIN locked and didn't get it fixed until the end of the event but I read another thread where he said he wasn't going to run it because he was afraid of stuff breaking. He said he bought it for bragging rights only. Not sure if that comment was serious or not.

Misfires with the Procede didn't happen at lower boost either from what I understand, it was certain weather conditions as well as higher boost.

I agree with you, the ideal way to do it is with all features intact. In the mean time though, why not disable it?

I'm guessing the same misfire that georgiatech335i is facing.

At the end of the day, Brock is the only guy that I have seen from both forums who publicly acknowledges the issue. For now, the ST haters are hating but at the end of the day, I think they are going to have the last laugh. I just find it hard to believe that Shiv wasn't experiencing these same issues before he released the kit.

It will get fixed. The hate is really in how Vishnu/Shiv portrayed this I'm surprised more people aren't outraged. It's fine to have issues especially at this level, expected really.

yes!!!! dont hate on the hoodscoop it wasn't finished (not even close), on a second hood, and is fully functional. lol It was going to be a pro-stock "round" hoodscoop, but I couldn't find one fast enough for fixx.

        And it stood out lol

Wait, I can blame Vishnu for killing butterflies now? This thread just keeps getting better.
