      Here is a nice set of sphyphotos of the upcoming BMW i8 courtesy of AutoGuide. This newest set shows the closest to production ready version of the i8 thus far. The rear windows show off the trademark BMW Hofmiester kink and the body work itself looks toned down from the concept. The styling will be of course be futuristic but toned down from the concept but the real question will be if they can match the lofty engineering goals of the concept.

      Will it hit the target 3,197 pound curb weight? Will the output be 393 horses (170 electric and 223 gas) and 406 pound-feet of torque? If BMW meets these goals and is able to keep the price from going into the stratosphere, this car will be a hit. Especially with the ability to switch from rear wheel, to front wheel, and all wheel drive on the fly as well as up to 20 miles electric only propulsion.

        Nobody really knows but I would think this would be $150k.

        Unless this thing gets 80mpg and looks truly like something from Blade Runner in production form, insteqd of just tacked-on Pep Boys crap, I think $150k is definitely in the stratosphere.

        It's worth it really, especially for 80 mpg, doors that go up, huge curbside appeal, 4 seats, and a futuristic design. If it's less than $150k even better. I'm really digging the car.

        I'd expect low 12's out of this. Mid 12's at the worst.
