      The GT500 is an awesome car putting out a ton of power especially in its latest 2013 iteration. The model you see however is a 2011 that is said to be completely stock. On paper, the F10 M5 should have the advantage in this race as it is about a ~120 mile per hour trap car stock versus about ~116 for the 2011 GT500. The result of the two races in the video at the 1:20 and 2:20 mark are that the GT500 pulls the M5, somewhat too easily.


      The owner of the GT500 posted on the forums saying his car is stock and that the F10 M5 belongs to his friend who is still figuring out the various shift modes. It's honestly pretty simple, put it in the highest shift mode and then push it to the right for automatic mode which will execute a perfect shift every time. Additionally, the F10 M5 doesn't need to be wound out super high with its torque happy turbo motor so it's hard to explain why it lost the way it did.

      In the first race the GT500 seems to get a jump and the M5 gets demolished. The second race is much closer but the M5 loses again. What happened in the video is what happened but hard to figure out why the M5 with its 527 wheel horsepower stock got beat the way it did by what is said to be a stock 2011 GT500. Video is below.

        The M5 weighs in at 4300 lbs iirc and the mustang is around 3800ish?

        A stock 2011 gt500 makes 550 hp and the M5 is advertised at 560 (crank). Makes sense, the lighter car wins?
        Why you are going by crank figures for two heavily underrated cars I have no clue. Plus the M5 is DCT, not manual.

        I'm liking these new stangs more and more. To bad everyone and their mother owns one. That cobra has my respect though, props!

        I hate how many people have them too but the GT500 really isn't everywhere. It's such a sweet ride too.

        Note, the F10 M5 does NOT always make 527whp on a Dynojet too. So, in some runs it might run that number & some run less than that. Even INSIDELINE, have seen this dyno results. It's like the overboost mode runs whenever it feels like after a high number run.

        I think it was really heat soak that affected the numbers.

        F10's have trapped above 120mph. They are close, the M5 had some starting issues.

        I'm not saying the M5 couldn't do better on slicks, merely that someone modified a stock GT500 to hook and it did 11.1@124

        It's a valid example certainly but I think the M5 properly driven should take this race based on the HP figures, weights, transmissions, etc. It's not a blowout or anything but this is just odd.

        i understand learning a car thats a stick, but in a dct just point and go car how could he get crushed like that?? was he short shifting?? does that car still make less power not in m mode??

        If you shift in manual and shift too early or late it can affect you certainly.
