    • New SLS AMG Black Series Nurburgring spy video clearly demonstrates a tweaked M159 6.2 liter V8 is under the hood

When the SLS AMG Black Series was first spotted testing rampant speculation followed on what motor would be under the hood. Everything was mentioned from a M275 V12 Twin Turbo to even the new M157 Twin Turbo V8. As more and more testing reports came in from people who saw and heard the car testing as well as leaks from Mercedes AMG themselves it has become clear a revised M159 with output slightly above the 600 horsepower mark will be employed.

The video below of the car testing on the Nurburgring has very good audio of the engine sounds, you be the judge.

I'm also thinking that this might well be the last Black Series that we see. It's the flagship model for MBZ, what could they possibly make into a Black Series next unless they come out with a new model ??

@LZH, i forgot what engine this car has. a V12? Click here to enlarge

The more i look at this car, the more i get disappointed. Specially when you at the previous ultimate black series car:
        Attachment 22142
        Attachment 22143
Well it wasn't a black series, but it was the ultimate version of the SLR. It was elegant, classy and understated. The same can't be said about the new kid on the block though.

Times change bud. Have you ever driven an SLR ? Doesn't even compare to the balance and great manners the SLS has....and the SLS BS is going to be beast on the track. Was never very impressed with the SLR styling either.

        No chance of that.

Earl, are you sure you're getting one? I was contacted by a higher up on PL, the ordering process this time around is going to be very different. You are going to have to get in line behind C63 BS owners and SLS owners who purchased new from MB dealerships the way I understand it. Not many are being produced and even less are being sent stateside. I will be getting my hands on one for sure.

Wonder what worldwide production is going to be ? Considering how many C BS came stateside...what was it like 76 ? I'd assume there are only going to be 40 or 50 that make it here. Guess time will tell - you get any indication how many we're going to see, @JRCART ?

No, and I posed that question this morning on PL, they have not given a number on how may produced or coming stateside. All of the specifics are being handled via PM and thread on PL. They are posting info on PL before press or dealers get info. All I know is that they are now going out of their way to ensure their true enthusiest customer base gets first dibs. Still not sure how Earl is getting one???? I have insight on how the allocations are being handed out and from what I understand he does not qualify for a guaranteed allocation.

Money buys lots of things bud - and that includes getting to the front of the line. I don't own an SLS or a C BS and the GM at the dealer where I bought my CLK BS already called and offered me the SLS BS if I put down a sizable deposit. I'm sure what you heard internally from AMG regarding the ordering process is true, I'm not doubting you...but we all know dealers live by their own rules in many regards.

Why not? He is a Black Series customer already.

Not sure why they are pulling a Ferrari sort of thing with this.

If you have the money, what does it matter? I mean everybody isn't pissing $300k here and there.

Trust me, your dealer does not have a clue on this one....and he CAN NOT COMMIT TO GETTING YOU A BS AT THIS TIME....but I don't doubt they will take your deposit on one.

Luke, give me a call I will let you take a peak at my PL PM inbox....you will not believe what you read.

Why does it matter??? AMG is taking the "flippers" out of the market, making sure their best customers and true enthusiests get their hands on one before thay open up the market to others. I was personally contacted by someone a day before the official release came out on the SLS Black Series. Everything is going through the PL at this time, notice how there have been no official press releases by any other media outlets yet?

There are no "lists" at dealers at this time, anyone that says otherwise is not in the know. There are no lists of any kind except the ones AMG has and the people they want to sell them to.

Bro Luke is right. It's all about money. The other day i received a call from Ferrari and was told that i can trade my 458 for a F12 which has near 2 years waiting list and receive one in less than a month. This means i'll get my F12 as fast as guys like Sultan of Brunei that only has 10 F40's in his garage. Why? I'm not even a Ferrari loyalist. The only reason is because to skip the waiting list for the 458, i paid more than what everybody else did.
And ironically this is the same company that started this hand picked customer thing. Click here to enlarge

There are exceptions to every rule and things slip through the cracks, however I can guarantee that Luke's dealership has no clue of the allocation/ordering process of the SLS Black Series at this moment and therefore can not promise him or anyone else a car at this time. Nothing against Luke, his dealership is just trying to make a buck, but they have no right offering up allocations at this point in the game, trust me. A Dealer Order Guide has not even been made public to dealerships yet, that happens long before allocations go out.

        Jrcart,

The way things work in Europe has no bearing on what happens stateside or even in Canada.

On a different note, you should have Jim get the slk bs and a sl bs so he has the entire lineup.

You are correct, I have no idea of how the process is being handled in Europe of non-US markets. I did not realize you were getting your hands on a euro spec, I just assumed you were talking U.S.

In the interests of full disclose, I have an option to purchase the car. I don't know about the states but in Europe you an buy and sell build slots and you can buy or sell an option to purchase a build slot. The option is legally binding and specifies a max percentage over msrp. Click here to enlarge

Nice, like I said I have no clue of the over seas process and I am not claiming to.

BTW, what's "over MSRP" mean? I will be paying MSRP. Going to be an awesome car and depending on when you get yours built you might see yours before I see mine since the U.S specs are being built last from what I understand.

As the exact price isn't known yet, you lock in a percentage (i.e. 5%) that you are willing to pay above list/msrp.
