      Modded C63 versus modded M3 is always an entertaining battle. Here we see two modified examples running each other at the dragstrip. The C63 is the camera car with an OE Tuning tune, MHP headers and full exhaust, carbon fiber hood/trunk, race seat, slicks, and no seats. The M3 is a DCT with the VT2-650 kit claiming over 600 wheel horsepower on R-compound tires.


      Now, on paper, the M3 should make quick work of this C63 which is not making over 600 wheel horsepower. The weight savings measure on the C63 help but not enough to overcome the supposed power disparity. The end result is 11.2@125 for the supercharged M3 versus 11.0@125 for the C63.

      The M3 simply is not making the power it is claiming on the dyno and that is why it lost. An ESS-VT1 535 supercharged M3 running less boost without an intercooler only ran 2 MPH slower at the same strip on the same day. The video is a good educational piece on the difference between racing on the dyno with inflated graphs for bragging rights and in the real world.

        I have seen that car over on the other forums. The owner likes to talk a lot of $#@!. He got schooled...lol.

        Yes he does and can't back it up.

        Dyno chart racing is easier.

        Ha...this makes me want to go do all this stuff...but NOTHING like that here in MS :\ plus no time with grad school...but as stated above...that M3 can't be putting down those kinds of numbers...he would've won...

        Good race from both.. This is the race i was most excited for, from that day. I've driven hagis car a bunch of times, and i def say its a BEAST for NA. He def sets up his car properly and is putting out/down the power its suppose to.

        The last dyno I saw of M33's latest setup was 575whp and 381wtq SAE on a DynoJet. It had the ESS VT2-650 at 8psi with Meth.

        What does these tuned and full-bolt-on C63s put down?

        I just checked out some dynos of a C63 with only a tune. The power and torque curve is just monstrous.

        I think by nature of the VT2-650, it needs longer distance to show more of it's strengths. I wouldn't be surprised if M33 would start to real in the C63 AMG.

        Even watching the video of the @LostMarine vs 1SICKM and the other VT2s. If they had more length, I can see how they would start to pull away more and more as speeds pick up.

        Still though....these C63 AMGs are down right NUTS! I personally think they make a better drag strip car than the E92 M3. With a tune and some bolt ons, they are just so quick. I hope we see more Weistech AMGs run against some boosted M3s!

        Yes the top end of the M3 with a blower is pretty absurd so it should win.

        You have to know how to launch them... he didn't. Probably a combo of not enough RPM as well as not the best low end curve.

        It seems like launching a DCT isn't as simple as I thought. Having to time everything with putting it into LC, not accidentally turning it off, and timing it with the lights.

        On top of that, heating up the tires. On a road course, the Toyo R888s need to get heated up good before they get sticky. I imagine it needs a good burn out at the strip to utilize its potential.

        I see 10s being a little more common next year when everyone dials everything even more optimal for pure acceleration and launching.

        It would be pretty nice to see a good race from a roll between these two cars!

        Absolutely, a good burnout is key. Hence why I got a line lock... but it heats the trans badly.

        I imagine that to do wonders! I think that was a big reason why VAC was able to hit such great numbers with their VFE kit.

        I don't recall what your times were in your former setup, but any projected goals when your car is complete?

        M33 was launching his car pretty hard that day,I dont think the launch is an issue for him as he was dead hooking all day from what I saw

        We were all using Launch control. The trick to geting the tires heated up w/o linloc is to do hot lapped runs.

        Good launch control was easy, i think everyone was more worried about the trans limps that were happening than LC activating

        So what happened to you not wanting to use it? Get how much better it is now?

        The trick to getting the tires heated is a line lock but whatever, you guys do your setup your way and I'll do mine my way.

        Yep, the trans will go into limp mode pretty quick. Might be time to look into an upgraded cooler... just a thought.

        c63s are so bad ass... from my battles with jonc63 in my red 135 i have gained a ton of respect for them... just a tune makes them the around the speed of our FBO n54s than LTH give a ton of power making them 11.6-7 cars???

        And the motor/tranny seems solid, does anyone spray them?

        Id think a c63 with LTH and tune with a 100 shot has gotta be in the 10's with proper rubber no?

        C63, CTS V, or e90 M3 are all masterpieces in there own way.
