• BMW fails to defend ALMS GT championship, BWM Team RLL finishes in second place after Petit Le Mans season finale

      The 2012 American Le Mans season is over. Unfortunately, BMW was not able to win their third straight championship which would be an amazing feat. BMW did well in the final race finishing in 3rd and 4th place with the two M3 GT's but Corvette Racing was simply too strong of a team to beat in 2012.

      BMW will no doubt blame the new technical regulations as they did earlier in the season regarding what cost them the championship. It will be interesting to see where BMW goes from here. Will they continue to race the M3 GT or try to somehow get an exemption to race a Z4 GT3? Will they pull out entirely? Who knows, but with SRT getting into the mix with the new Viper the GT class is only going to get more difficult.

      BMW should be proud of their effort finishing second in the team standings and tied with Porsche for second place as well for the manufacturer standings. It was a great season of racing, congratulations to Corvette Racing.

        I saw the 2013 schedule looks like it will be on tv a lot more, I'm looking forward to that!

        Isn't BMW pulling out of ALMS.

        The race in Austin will be great, ALMS on Saturday and WEC on Sunday.
