2014 MKVII Golf R spotted testing, ~300 horsepower expected along with 200 pounds less weight

Naturally after the
MKVII Golf reveal the GTI and Golf R versions will follow. The GTI will be powered by the 2.0 turbo EA888 motor with about 220 horsepower or so. In the Golf R, this same motor will be used but output is expected to rise to around the 300 horsepower mark. This increase in power combined with the
lower weight, lower center of gravity, and wider track of the MKVII should make for a very sporty Golf.
There are rumors of the Audi TT-RS turbo 5 cylinder making its way under the hood which would be absolutely awesome. That motor would easily provide 340+ horsepower for the Golf although chances of it making it in are slim and the 2.0 turbo is the more realistic motor.
Expect the car late in 2013 at a price point of about $35,000.
