      The Nissan GT-R is a very tough opponent and currently one of the most popular tuner platforms out there. The M3 has the disadvantage of not having turbos but makes up for it with a larger displacement motor having a wider powerband. What many people forget is the M3 is lighter than the GT-R, rear wheel drive, and also features a dual clutch transmission with tight gearing. With equal power the M3 actually will have the advantage from a roll but obviously the GT-R is a monster from a stop thanks to the traction afforded by its all wheel drive.


      In the video below the race shows the M3's strength which is the top end especially with a centrifugal blower like the one used in the ESS VT1 kit which builds boost with revs. The ESS supercharger kit is modified with a higher boost pulley (about 6 psi) and supplemented with meth injection. The GT-R features exhaust modifications including a mid pipe and a Cobb OTS 93 octane tune.

      The GT-R gets the jump but the M3 is able to reel it in and pass at higher speeds. From a stop on the street, the GT-R would likely build too large of a lead thanks to the all wheel drive for the M3 to overcome on street tires. On the highway though, the M3 proves how capable of a platform it can be. Enjoy the race, the GT-R is not unbeatable.

        Nice vid! That was me being left in the dust in the 335 in the rear camera lol

        Those gtr's are awesome, I dont know how anyone can't like them.

        I honestly wish you bought shiv's single. We'd have multiple 1/4 mile runs, roll races, and whatever the hell else all documented lol.

        I wouldnt say rape, but at about 150 you took the lead. I am thoroughly surprised and imhave a new found respect for your kit and the e92 platform.

        At the end of the day it's fun amongst friends and I had a blast. I don't care about winning, I just like to see where I stack up. With that said congrats and let's get 1 more in as is and another in octobmer with more mods Click here to enlarge

        I bet a protune will wake that gtr up, I know my protune on my Cobb 335 is night and day when compared to the ots maps

        Protune is coming the same day I get me intakes, turbo inlets, down pipes, and injectors installed. Courtesy of Visconti or Sean Ivey

        Lol at always justifying an M3 over the GTR. GTR is much better and with the proper setup would kill you all day every day

        I know what your saying. I tried to have some fun with a GTR on the way back from Bimmerstock/Gold Coast Concours even though i knew i would have gotten stomped out for every reason except being slow. I just wanted to have some fun and while i had a chance, test my car with something i dont see everyday and is worthy.

        2 completely different cars: One's a computer that defies physics & the other is straight Euro Muscle. Depending on what you're looking for, I wouldn't say these cars are directly comparable. The next-gen M3 with turbos will be the Euro alternative to the GTR though

        I 100% agree, I used to own an e92 m3. LM is a good friend and at the end of the day the run was all in good fun, nothing competitive. He won this on the top end and I'll give him the respect for that - with what we did we were as close as the two platforms will get

        Yeah I'm up for whatever bro... We got some runs tonight, its such a well rounded car. No vids before folks ask., we just started playin and the GoPros were not mounted

        Good race I have new respect for you car after seeing that video right there.

        Next weekend when I am down at ATCO we can set up a re match between us and get the run's recorded this time. We can do my low boost spring pressure and the mid boost that I ran you on last night.

        Again much respect for you M3 love that thing.
