      Well here we have independent curb weight and weight distribution numbers from our Premier Vendor IND-Distribution. Yes, we all knew the F10 M5 was going to be heavy and we all saw BMW's own released figures which measure the car at 4387 with the DCT. So, the results here actually undercut BMW a bit but damn is the car a porker. BMW also states the weight distribution for the car at 52.5% front and 47.% rear which is spot on with their claims and still beats the new Audi's considerably.

      So, the car is almost 300 pounds heavier (depending on options of course) than the E60 M5. It is no longer lighter than its rivals. You were saying something about Efficient Dynamics BMW? The car performs amazingly well and definitely outperforms the E60 M5 but imagine if it weighed the same or less than the previous model. No wonder it needs so much power. That turbo motor is also causing BMW to shy a bit away from its famed 50/50 distribution claims.

      It is a great car, no doubt about it, but BMW weights need to get in check and BMW needs to start doing what its competitors such as Mercedes and Porsche are managing to do which is release new models lighter than the previous generation which improves efficiency.

        Safe to assume the 6 speed is less than 4300lbs, which isn't all that bad

        Overall, disappointed as usual but there is a bright side. Rough estimates
        Batter -40lbs
        Exhaust -50lbs
        Downpipes/cats - 30lbs?
        Hood/Bootlid -60lbs?

        4130lbs and world class luxury retained. A 6 speed car with a lightweight flywheel and BMW performance seats would come in around 3950 i'd assume

        The new cars suck so much juice this is a tough one to do.

        Exhaust you can pick up some savings but the hood and bootlid will already be aluminum so tough to save much there.

        Realistically, you can probably shave close to 100 off the car without compromising much. The largest weight savings will be in the seats if you go to an aftermarket lightweight race seat.
