      Ok, follow on this one folks. Even though the new 4 Series designation is for two door cars the Gran Coupe version having four doors will under the 4 Series name because it is said to be a four door "coupe." Somewhat make sense? Regardless as the 6 Series Gran Coupe has been very well received and is a stunning design BMW hopes to repeat the success on a smaller scale using the 3 Series platform.

      The 4 Series will share the 3 and 4 series drivetrains but be the premier car in that segment similar to how the 6 Series Gran Coupe is situated. An M version is likely in the cards as well as the 6 Series Gran Coupe also gets an M version based on the M6. Naturally, this one would be based on the M3/M4.

      So we will have a 3 Series sedan, wagon, GT, and a 4 Series coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe. We don't think any more variants are possible but will not count out BMW who seems to come up with a new one every other week. If this car is as good looking as it's 6 Series big brother and priced well, it will likely be a hit.

        they should make the camo an individual option, makes me dizzy looking at it (in person, too!)

        They act like they are disguising cold war secrets. Renderers are getting so good they can just piece this together anyway.

        you know whats crazy.....these designs were coming off the drawing board before the end of the E46 generation most likely...usually prototypes are almost in rolling format one generation ahead of the generation that is just coming out.

        Porsche was like that....when the 964 was released, the public didnt initially approve it so well, but the 993 chassis was already 80% done and they were finalizing it to come into production in 1995...a short 6 years later. Porsche likes to keep 6-7 years ahead on updates and generation changes, Im sure BMW is in the same time frame.

        I don't see anything coupe in those photos. It's just a regular sedan.

        Hopefully this car makes Audi bring over the S5 Sportback. I want one of those.
