    • DTM 2012 - 1-2-3 Audi clean sweep at Zandvoort to pass BMW for second in standings with 3 races left in season

An absolutely incredible showing by the Audi DTM teams at this past weekends race in Zandvoort which is in the Netherlands. Audi passed BMW by quite a bit who was second in the manufacturer standings following their victory at the Nurburgring. Audi picked up a whopping 68 points with this past race compared to 19 for Mercedes-Benz and 14 for BMW. Audi took 4 out of the top 5 spots in the race which is simply astounding.

It looked like Mercedes might run away with the season but Audi is now 5 points behind Mercedes thanks to its strong showing and in a position to repeat as champion if it continues to come on strong toward the end. BMW looks like they will need a miracle or the type of performance that Audi was just able to put up. Things just got very interesting.
