    • Velos Designwerks BMW F10 550i N63 Twin Turbo V8 dyno tune results - 441 whp and catless CEL (check engine light) disabled

Velos Designwerks recently did a custom tune for BimmerBoost member Jimefam's F10 BMW 550i. This user was having trouble finding a tuner who was able to tune his car around his mods and disable the check engine light he had as a result of his catless AR Design N63 downpipes. For a while now Dinan seemed to be the main option for these motors but they were not willing to do custom tunes.

Velos was able to not only turn off the CEL (check engine light) but also was able to gain considerable power. 441 wheel horsepower to be exact with the downpipes which exceeds the Dinan Stage 3 which put down 411 to the wheels on a dynojet considerably as well as the 386 wheel horsepower baseline. We have not seen a higher horsepower N63 dyno graph.

The only downside is that the car must be tuned onsite. These are very impressive results. Whatever Velos is doing definitely is working.

Dinan is a good tune for the more conservative users and in the early generation of a motor. They don't really go back and add features or update their tunes much, so after a few years (months even) their tune is outdated and lacking in some of the more basic features. It's apples and oranges though as their consumer base might differ a little.

Good numbers - are you planning on taking it down the strip?
Yeah as soon as I can I'll take it to the track but I won't be in town for about another 1.5 months so it'll probably be late September before I can put the tune to the test.

This car should trap 116? More in cold weather?
That seems a bit high to me, I believe alextremo trapped at just under 113 with the stage two which he said felt more powerful than the stage 3. I would expect 114ish.

Hello Omar! How are you? I don't know if you remember me but i had the pleasure of dealing with you for several times long time ago back in AA.
Good job on Andres' car. The graph looks beautiful even though these little turbos go out of breath quickly.

Dont jump to that yet, they are known simply to copy tunes. All of the tunes they carry are just copies that they've got from other companies.......

OP, did you ever try contacting AA?

What are you basing this on and secondly why is nobody else doing what they are doing with the N63? You can ask @Jimefam if you want he looked at tunes for a while.

Ive seen in person an email regarding Omar buying a tune from Weistec for a c63 amg, he bought it indirectly through a distributor of theirs that way it couldnt be traced back to him. The very next week Velos started selling this tune......you do the math

Also take into consideration that Omar and Jean had no tuning experience pre-velos as their only background was sales. So how is it possible that a company thats only been in business for 7 months to offer more than 70 tunes for a variety of different manufacturers? its impossible

Everybody sources their tunes from somewhere. It's nothing new. Without the encryption getting cracked we would have no tunes. It's a small group that gets the tunes out and they spread to everyone. It's the quality of their tune and what else they do that separates them.

Look at how everyone has an M157 tune. Then look at Renntech and Weistec's tunes. Big difference yet I guarantee there are some similarities from the originating source.

Yup I contacted AA as well as Renntech like 5 other BMW tuners none of which had jack $#@! to offer me but "were working on it and should have something soon" and was told this for a while. Personally I could care less if they bought the tune or made it themselves show my another non Dinan tuned 550? Who are they copying that is also doing these cars right NOW? Always a hater in every thread lol

I was just curious to know if you ever contacted anyone else.

I passed by AA yesterday and they had a white 550 on the dyno, they're working on a tune now from what they told me.

        He contacted several tuners.

Look, aren't you affiliated with AA which is why you are pushing them and also why you seem to be going after Omar since he left AA?
