    • A Powerchip tuned 2006 E60 M5 takes on an Evolve tuned 2007 E60 M5 - Result is not pretty

These are the videos we like to see, comparing the same cars with different mods. In this case the camera car has an Evolve Stage I ECU tune, RPI scoops, RPI pulley, RPI block off plates, and an Eisenmann muffler. The other M5 (2006) is running a Powerchip tune which used to be one of the best tunes for these cars but Powerchip is pretty much on life support (if not dead entirely) and is living off their past name and tunes which have not evolved as the Evolve tune has (pun intended).

In addition to the Powerchip tune the 2006 M5 has a full BBI exhaust, RPI scoops, and RPI block off plates. It is surprising the Evolve car pulls this strongly when it does not even have a full exhaust.

Both M5's are S6 with DSC off and P500S mode. The AC is off in both cars and each has 1 passenger. Camera car has slightly more fuel. Enjoy the video below.

Powerchip does not even own a dyno to the best of my knowledge. Is there anything else that one needs to know?

That's a good vid. I know the guy from another forum, his beast is running strong these days. I helped convert him to the Evolve Tune from ESS Click here to enlarge

He also ran a lightly modded 135i this week..

This vid of his car is for sure worth a watch..

        TZ,

Nice working converting him to the Evolve side! Did he ever share his impressions comparing the two tunes?

The E60 M5 continues to grow on me.

Haha thanks! I'll quote some of his feedback..

        -TZ

"Just bought an evolve tune to replace my ess tune, since members have claimed it has better mid range power with top end power! Just can't wait to put it on the car!"

"Awesome Thanks for the input, now I am even more excited. I hated hitting the rev limiter, the increased rev limit really helps give you that extra room. With the ESS tune I just didn't have the midrange power I wanted when driving around L.A, hopefully now I will."

"What you told me about when you raced that supra with stock tune and then with the Evolve-R tune really is true. Especially when I raced my buddies M5 tuned by Powerchip. With my ESS tune I couldn't pull away like that, maybe 1/2 a car and thats all. Really and amazing tune, Sal did put a lot of work into it. Stormters video when he raced the evolve tuned m5, SS M5 couldn't pull until 150mph.Glad I jumped in and Evolved!"

"I am a strong believer that something is the best till you try something better. Thus far I think the Evolve-R tune is the best thing I have tried in regard to tuning for the the E60 M5"

"The Evolve-R tune as made me very happy and I am glad I made the decision to try something new. The Evolve-R Stage 1 flash really proves it self on the dyno and on the streets; thats a big plus. I wish I knew about Evolve sooner. If you ever made/make your way to the E39 section or E46 section of the forums Evolve as done some amazing things there and likewise they are doing some amazing things here (right now) for our cars. If your in Southern California you are more than welcome to take my M5 around the block, take an epic ride from me, or have a friendly race as well to test out the tune. Everything is great till you try something better. The Evolve-R is the best I have tried thus far."

Purely awesome! Everyone on the Evolve Automotive team are masters at what they do. Amazing what they are able to achieve with any car they touch. Everything from the R56 MCS to the M5!

Stroker needs to delete his primary cats/get headers, thats whats sucking up his power IMO. Its a fast car though north of 150mph.
