      It makes no sense to us to abandon the M3 coupe when the car originated as a coupe but the M4 appears to be here to stay. The F32/F82 M4 spotted testing here in Europe with its turbocharged motor which chances are will be based on the current N55 direct injected inline-6. The M3 will be launched first and the M4 will follow. It is going to take a long time to come to terms with the idea of the new M3 being an M4.

        Names aside,, the car sounds more like a V6 Turbo than an I6 Turbo from the Nurburgring test videos.

        The "singing" we get from the N54/N55 is not there..

        It will be a Turbo, more likely 2 than 3, even if it would be nice to see a compound system.

        My bet is that we will see a 6Cyl variant of the F10M5 TwinTurbo engine, a bit like the S85-2=S65 ish..

        I'm hoping it's a 6 cylinder variant of the S63tu.

        Since the S63TU is already at 680hp on stock internals, we could see the new engine at 3.3L turning out about 450hp and plenty of torque, maybe 550-600m ish. Which will be a huge power step up from the S65.. but lacking the noise of the NA config as you can hear from the videos.

        What I would actually like to see is compound version of the 54/N55. Something like BMW is running on the Diesel "M" series. It would be NUTS to see a 3L engine with 600nm from 1500rpm and maybe 500hp in stock format reving to 7500rpm..

        I would be happy with either option but if they do an N55 based motor I'm all for the compound setup.

        If the engine is as good as they're saying (twin turbo'd 6, 450 HP/400 TQ from the factory) it's basically gonna be the German version of the 2JZ. And after seeing what we're still doing with the N54's, 600 HP on a FBO stock motor + snails doesn't sound too out of reach

        lol @ the name M4, what the $#@!? If anyone buys one please take that stupid badge off and replace it with M3, take a picture of it and email it to BMW corporate and tell them to pay for the new badge under warranty because they $#@!ed it up.

        looks from the side like a certain american pony car...and no thats not a compliment

        engine wise... i want to see a bored or stroked N55 to 3.3-3.4 L with a larger turbo

        I have a feeling this is going to be a special motor. One that may finally drive me to the M3 (haha M4) side. That's a bit far away from now though (gives me time to save some $$$ LOL).

        My plan is to get one in 4-5 years, hopefully it lives up to the hype!
