    • Vishnu Tuning E92 335i with FFTEC N54 single turbo hardware + raised boost finally runs a 10 second 1/4 mile pass, underwhelming?

Vishnu Tuning finally managed to eek out a 10 second pass in their single turbo E92 335i that they were once touting would be in the 9's. After multiple unsuccessful attempts (with driver errors) from Vishnu owner Shiv Pathak he was able to get a high 10 second slip by raising the boost according to his data log and shifting cleanly. Details are scarce as Vishnu did not provide information on the youtube video upload and there also is no exterior view to show the slip actually correlates to the run shown in the video.

We will give the benefit of the doubt here but with all secrecy and the multiple attempts to get to this point the performance is simply underwhelming for the time and money investment. The car is said to have run 10.8@131. It recently was dyno'd at 627 wheel horsepower by Insideline so these horses are not translating well to the ground. This single turbo offers considerable lag and the top end pull for the sacrifice simply is not there especially compared to existing solutions such as the Rob Beck twin turbo upgrade which offers far greater spool and performance only a few miles per off through the traps but with far greater driveability.

The previous record was 11.10@127.21 with 19 psi of boost on the RB turbos. These turbos are a much more affordable option that also currently is available. Vishnu claims 23.5 psi of boost for this 10.8@131 mph run. Is it worth the minor top end benefit for the estimated $8500+ plus install? We do not think so and considering the way Vishnu hyped this the results are very underwhelming. The low end torque sacrifice is not being justified with a large top end gain.

We wish Vishnu luck in the future but for now this is still an experiment and work in progress that is tough to buy both figuratively and literally. There are more affordable options that work better for daily driven N54 vehicles that offer 97% of the performance in practice (as in not just a dyno queen) with less compromises. Not to mention for users to repeat what Vishnu has done here with their own single turbo it will likely be far more difficult as they will not have the option of risking their engine with higher boost and timing advances simply to try to eek out a tenth to squeeze past what already exists and get into the 10's. It may be a record, but it certainly is not impressive considering where the bar was already set with far less horsepower and much more affordable tuning and hardware options.

I was hoping to talk with him at that meet in NJ even though I forgot to bring a bulletproof vest. Unfortunately, he didn't show up. He must have had more important things to do. Or maybe he figured out that there was a police officer attending. Either way, the more time he spends here ranting the better.

AT that point I informed you that Im a real person, and if you feel you can talk to grown man like that w/o repricussions, then you are wrong. Then, when you offered the free test drive in a v2 or 3 car, whatver it was, I offered to be across the street offering free test rides in a JB3 1.4 car as it just came out. Turns out, I was called into work and could not attend

Seems you just cant tell the truth in any way, on any subject

What the $#@!. Shiv you are beyond belief. How many times have I gotten on you about wasting your one post a day? Come on man, you can do better than that.

LOL! What else is new. Whats he gonna write about, its not like he has a few single turbo cars up and roaming the streets, theres NOTHING to talk about..

I agree on that Shiv's single has potential to mid / low 10s.

I know well what it feels like being thrown under the bus because 1. I bought my procede used and 2. His pos tune flatlines going into 4th gear. I recall being told a PWM meth kit would fix it but it obviously didn't. I lost money on two VIN locks because shiv wouldn't apply the misfire fix to V4 firmware.

Im not the first nor will be the last left hung to dry by that spiteful failure of a man.

Unfortunately if you are running Vishnu single turbo hardware you won't be able to maintain eye contact with me in the M3 unless I turn around to look through the rear window Click here to enlarge

Maybe throw in a few more smileys as a consolation prize to keep your morale up? Maybe rub the belly on your Shiv blow up doll and give it a hug? Whatever you need to do bud, because neither your trash talk or your car are going to cut it.

I really hope that you do though, we would all like to see what these Single's can do apart from shivs race car. I have nothing against any owner of the Single's except for just being too quiet ever since they got 'em..

Read through this thread, I agree find it strange that nobody is showing off the power of the Single. I know when I get a BIG upgrade I enjoy showing everyone else, telling them what I found while installing, etc etc.

I think that LM is biased towards Shiv, Nothing wrong with that, he has the right to be, just like Shiv is biased towards Terry.

@shiv where is the AT single?

I wonder if the silence is due to Shiv wanting to properly fuel the singles with a base flash instead of meth and having to re-calibrate all his ingenious tuning logic to support the power. Shiv said there wasn't a base flash on the singles, right?

It would suck for FBIS since he would have to ship his ECU back to Shiv only to get it back and then go through the process of remote tuning to dial the map in.

It would suck even more if they ran into some problems with the excessive meth that is no longer needed.

It would suck astronomically if something broke while any of this was happening.

You need the base flash to run high boost on the single. Without you are stuck with a 15-16 psi map

Shiv does run a base flash with his single, his procedeflash

nooo, you misunderstood, he only SAID he didnt use it. Far be it from the consumer to actually KNOW what they are doing with the car/kit they want to sell.. Im under the impression, that the 4, yes FOUR meth nozzle were there and spraying for as a failsafe just incase a hardware component couldnt keep up. This is how he "justifies" saying "its not for fuel" because it wasnt MEANT for fuel IF everything was working properly, but IS for fuel if something craps out mid-run.. oh what a devious little shyt..

One thing in terms of fueling and meth injection. I've come to realize that his methanol nozzles are actually required to raise octane firstly and now with the flash the fuel "volume" demand should be ok on gasoline+meth. He won't be able to put out those numbers without meth on say a 50/50 ethanol mix without meth.

If you calculate the fueling requirements to properly fuel that much power you'll come to realize that you have to start injecting larger and larger quantities of meth on top of pump octane to simply have the right ratio of low and high octane going to the cylinders (raising pump gas octane). At lower power levels with pump gas you don't need as large of a meth flow as total fuel volume injected into the cylinders through the injectors is also lower.

I don't doubt he'll hit 600whp on E85 with say a 50% mix and no meth. You should look at overall torque applied. N54s cap out at lower peak power even on stock turbos as most are hitting higher torque than 450wtq (usually 470-500wtq). It is torque applied you should look at over RPMs not power. Power is calculated and will vary with RPM. Hold that torque flat and you get higher peak power, not brain surgery obviously.

Lastly, torque that he'll be able to pull off with a true "pump" + say E45 (blend of 50/50 E85 and pump gas with 10% ethanol and I'm not talking about "blending with race gas to get 94" that he sometimes uses) he won't go above 450wtq holding flat to redline. Even that torque curve kept flat towards 7200rpm (raised redline) peak power will be in the 600whp range

That fuel cap though can be easily raised with methanol injection on top and additionally with race gas instead of pump

I wouldn't want to run a $#@! load of meth and race gas on my daily driver. Many people who own the single say they daily drive them. I would assume they want to daily drive it on pump gas. 450whp on pump gas is pretty slow for $10,000, in my opinion.

im pretty sure he can make well over 450whp on 93oct though, and more than likely 550 on e85 blend no?

by no means am i a vishnu fan just saying, dzenno was talking about wTQ

Oops. I read it wrong. Well my comment still stands, I'd be pissed if my $10,000 investment made 450 hp on pump with no meth or E85! Haha.
