• Vishnu Tuning E92 335i with FFTEC N54 single turbo hardware + raised boost finally runs a 10 second 1/4 mile pass, underwhelming?

Vishnu Tuning finally managed to eek out a 10 second pass in their single turbo E92 335i that they were once touting would be in the 9's. After multiple unsuccessful attempts (with driver errors) from Vishnu owner Shiv Pathak he was able to get a high 10 second slip by raising the boost according to his data log and shifting cleanly. Details are scarce as Vishnu did not provide information on the youtube video upload and there also is no exterior view to show the slip actually correlates to the run shown in the video.

We will give the benefit of the doubt here but with all secrecy and the multiple attempts to get to this point the performance is simply underwhelming for the time and money investment. The car is said to have run 10.8@131. It recently was dyno'd at 627 wheel horsepower by Insideline so these horses are not translating well to the ground. This single turbo offers considerable lag and the top end pull for the sacrifice simply is not there especially compared to existing solutions such as the Rob Beck twin turbo upgrade which offers far greater spool and performance only a few miles per off through the traps but with far greater driveability.

The previous record was 11.10@127.21 with 19 psi of boost on the RB turbos. These turbos are a much more affordable option that also currently is available. Vishnu claims 23.5 psi of boost for this 10.8@131 mph run. Is it worth the minor top end benefit for the estimated $8500+ plus install? We do not think so and considering the way Vishnu hyped this the results are very underwhelming. The low end torque sacrifice is not being justified with a large top end gain.

We wish Vishnu luck in the future but for now this is still an experiment and work in progress that is tough to buy both figuratively and literally. There are more affordable options that work better for daily driven N54 vehicles that offer 97% of the performance in practice (as in not just a dyno queen) with less compromises. Not to mention for users to repeat what Vishnu has done here with their own single turbo it will likely be far more difficult as they will not have the option of risking their engine with higher boost and timing advances simply to try to eek out a tenth to squeeze past what already exists and get into the 10's. It may be a record, but it certainly is not impressive considering where the bar was already set with far less horsepower and much more affordable tuning and hardware options.

I want better flowing exhaust setup, with my what you would call a "Ricer" bumper, exhaust has to have many unnecessary bends here and there.

So all for show and hindering performance? Yes man, that would fit the definition of rice no need to put it in quotes.

If you truly liked it you would still have it end of discussion. Your car looks better now.

I hope you'll road track your car more often! With the rollcage and trackmods it's a waste as a showcar! Put these things to proper use and show us how the single turbo performs Click here to enlarge

Tracking the car is the most fun and rewarding thing to do. Who cares about 1/4 mile times. It's on the roadtrack where the big boys play! Click here to enlarge

+1, I've said it before too, no idea why it's so segregated when it comes to BMW. I use the forum mostly for information vs a social destination so it doesn't affect my ownership of my BWM, but that being said when I see how different it is on some of these GM / Evo / Benz forums I'd be lying if I said it didn't factor into the next project car I buy.

Well at least creaminz has a good looking car now... if he removed that impractical front splitter, then I would say it looks awesome. From zero to hero in a mere one post lol.

The lack of censorship on bb is refreshing.....we can actually get answers and clear up rumors without posts being deleted and people being banned over a tiny argument.

I agree there seems to be a lot of bickering in the BMW community but I do believe when you have a forum with no censorship or vendor bias....the "issues" can be sorted out.

So it appears there isn't a issue with the AT single turbo cars.....yet. Seems obvious by all the single turbo AT owner's posts that no one has really pushed their cars yet. So I guess the jury is still out on whether the AT will last for a decent amount of time with this vishnu single turbo kit.

        Time will tell....

What I don't get is why does someone as loud mouth as sikh335 who now has a single kit on the car isn't out there hitting the track? Why would anyone get a single kit that's race ready and not post any results with them? Before these vishnu customers got their kits it sounded like records would be shattered on a daily basis and I was looking forward to that...pretty lame i have to say given the cars are ready and running without any issues whatsoever for a while now, or so it seems

Even before the single turbo, I thought my transmission was slowly showing the wear & tear, that's when I PM'd LM regarding Level 10 upgrade, which he answered me with very good information. But after replacing gaskets and spark plugs, that sudden hesitation during hard pull went away. I am not here to defend Shiv or Vishnu. I simply paid in full to purchase his tune, meth kit, turbo kit, and if something goes wrong I can post it without feeling any guilt. It's just that Vishnu & FFTEC has been great so far and car has been running good. I'm not sure if I have 10 second car but it sure feels faster than ever. I think the kit is really well put together and it really isn't too bad pricing-wise. I'm still learning alot from you knowledgeable people, and I truly wish there's less drama...
So LM got his information from creaminz, but the information was prior to creaminz single turbo kit install.

Your car still looks sick creaminz.

i agree with most and say your car looks way better now with the new bumper creaminz. take your time getting results, the only rush is people's cravings for data or for on here, shiv to fail somehow. life>car. the only people who truly want to know results/data are those that cannot experience it first-hand for themselves and that's who you're catering to. congratz.

Not sure why members on forums feel the need to insert their own opinions as fact if they don't hear an update in a while. I know in my case I have simply been to busy to get the car to the track but will get to it on my schedule As for the car it runs great. Maybe LM should grow up a little, let fact stay fact and fiction stay in your head

There is a track only 45 miles out but the timer is busted.

Vbox consistently read 4.5-5mph faster. I was trapping 113.98 on the slip but 118.9 on the vbox. An absolute joke.

I have a close track that does that too, funny because without the vbox I would have never known. Vbox read 7.8 @ 94, track read 7.8 @ 89, I ran several more times and it was about 50/50 for accuracy on MPH but always pretty close on ET. The nice thing for me was confirming the 60' times on the vbox and the ET are very accurate, which confirmed for me that my 1.57 60' on the street wasn't just a fluke Click here to enlarge

Teach me your ways. Best 60' I can get is 1.8 with DRs.
