      We do not understand why the Europeans keep comparing the GT-R to the M5 as if it is relevant. We posted this magazine comparison on BenzBoost last week where the French Magazine Motorsport compared the Performance Package C218 CLS63 AMG to the F10 M5 and the Nissan GT-R. We have a video of the drag race between the M5 and the GT-R now and to put it mildly the GT-R destroys it by over a second. For the M5 to even remotely be a match from a stop versus an all wheel drive dual clutch car with launch control it needs proper drag racing rubber (drag radials) and a burnout to heat them up. The French drag race about as well as they fight.

        Crazy how much faster the GT-R gets through the gears... it's basically one gear ahead at the end of the race.

        Not sure what the point is in comparing a 4-door rwd heavy saloon to an awd coupe which is lighter.

        We all know the GT-R is a beast, but at the end of the day, the interior still looks like a Nissan Altima...what you end up paying for is the performance. I'll stick to the M5 and have a comfortable ride, not to mention almost 30mpg?

        It should be a roll on race. A drag race that puts the M5 at a disadvantage is pointless. It's like the M5 is handicapped.

        M5 doesn't get anywhere near 30mpg.

        It has a gas guzzler tax.

        The new one? =/ I thought they said in a review it almost gets 30mpg on the hwy.

        Yeah, the new F10.

        It surprised me, the mpg was definitely over hyped for sure.

        I don't think it would have made a difference, the GtR is Awd and heavy as hell but that tranny seems to murder anything in its sight.

        It would have made a considerable difference. Going from a stop against all wheel drive with launch control with a twin turbo rear wheel drive V8 on street tires is rather pointless.

        What would you do with the info about how quick M5 is on slicks? Not much. Who drives M5 on slicks anyways? All the M5's I've seen to date have been driving around on street tires. So, that info serves theoretical interests mainly. This video is perfect for showing what not to do at traffic lights if you confront a GTR revving there next to you...

        The more info the better. We could have 0-60Mph, 0-80Mph, 0-100Mph, similar slew of km/h figures, quarter mile, standing mile, 60-130Mph, 100-200 km/h... None of the performance figures is totally pointless, but each of them gives some additional information that is of interest to people interested in cars.

        However, I hope nobody takes quartermile results as a good overall presentation about the performance, since e.g. roll-ons would look very different.

        Someone trying to set the best time they can at the drag strip? What is the point of drag racing handicapped? If you aren't going to give the M5 proper rubber so it can put its power down then run from a roll.

        Why? All it does is launch from a stop? The m5 won't be handicapped from a roll and neither will the GTR, no traction issues for either.

        I thought the New M5 avoided the gas guzzler tax?

        The GTR is damn quick and will beat any sedan. End of story.

        Nope. The 63 AMG's I read do though so it kind of makes you wonder.

        But the GTR is best from a dig. I see your point, I am just saying that they cant both be at their best. ​Apples to oranges when talking about AWD vs RWD.
