Volkswagen CC success has VW thinking of another, smaller four door coupe based on the Jetta (SC)

It is no secret Volkswagen wants to improve its model share and creating another model is a good way to do that. VW sees the opportunity to create an entry level four-door coupe done in the same style as the CC but based on the cheaper Jetta platform (instead of the Passat like the CC). This car would be a natural competitor to the upcoming Mercedes CLC which itself is a cheaper, entry level version of the CLS.

VW was convinced to go with a four door coupe due to the reception the NCC Concept based on the Jetta received. That was 2 door concept and VW thinks the four door coupe is a better idea for the Jetta platform.

“Our research suggests there is increasingly a market for a sportier and more stylish version of the Jetta in the mould of the CC only smaller and more affordable. From the feedback we’ve received so far buyers want an individual bodystyle and the practicality of four doors,” is what an inside source told AutoCar.

Expect the "SC" as it is currently known to show up in 2015.
