    • Direct PDK (dual clutch) to manual comparison with the Porsche 991 Carrera S in the 1/4 mile

Finally, a direct comparison between the two 7 speed transmission options (PDK and manual) in the same time, same place thanks to Insdeline. So how much is a dual clutch worth over a manual? How about 3.3 MPH and seven tenth's in the 1/4 mile? The largest gain comes in elapsed time which is not surprising as the PDK isn't making more power but shifting much faster. The PDK is picking up well over a tenth per shift as it needs 3 shifts to make it through the 1/4 mile, impressive.

In case anyone had any doubt, a dual clutch is simply a superior performance option and gives one an advantage of almost a full second in the 1/4 mile in this particular application which is simply astounding. This despite a weight penalty of 45 pounds for the PDK. Dual clutches simply can not be ignored for the serious performance enthusiast.

Likely just tire wear, the 30-0 numbers are even as they should be.

The bulk of the difference is all in the start, significantly affecting the E.T and the trap. There's minimal difference everywhere else.

        Simply astounding LOL

What are you basing difference mostly at the start on?

The difference is huge, I don't know what to tell you. The numbers are right there.

Probably because the PDK adds some engine braking whereas a manual transmission, both feet in, the engine is in neutral providing no engine braking at all.

Yes but I am asking why he is saying it is mostly at the start when the difference continues through the 1/4 mile.
