      We knew the 9 second barrier would be cracked soon with many Mercedes' on the precipice. Renntech managed to push their SLR which already held the overall Mercedes 1/4 mile record even further breaking into the 9's. Everyone at BenzBoost would like to offer a congratulations for a major achievement in Mercedes performance. This SLR clearly had the performance to back up its looks. An incredible 1.4X 60 foot allowed for a 9 second elapsed time with a trap speed cracking the 140's. Much respect, well done.

        Mo, unless its somebody envolved with the builds or one of the car owners nobody knows exactly what's going on. There's been a lot of speculation and guesses but nobody has any idea of the the specific details of this round of mods.

        This thread is about a Renntech car so let's get it back on topic.

        As I stated in my previous post, does anyone know what this car weighs or specifics on mods?

        My question as well.

        What changed in this setup and what are the mods? 140 on the stock blower is moving...

        I think weather may have been a factor, there was record cold weather this week in FL,

        ...and records set in Chicago for warm weather, yesterday it got up to 60 here...cold in FL and warm in Chi the world must be coming to an end LOL

        There will be a full article with details about the entire build in due time, but for now here's a quick summary Click here to enlarge

        - Modified supercharger
        - Larger heat exchangers
        - More efficient intercooler pump
        - Prototype race headers
        - Limited slip differential
        - Modified five-speed transmission to handle the extra power.

        This SLR used to be black (SLR 777) and held the previous SLR record of 10.29 ran earlier last year. Then it was converted to white and was used as a 2011 SEMA Show Car. The car was created by Platinum Motorsport, RENNtech, MACarbon, and Exotics Boutique. It also has a Mansory Renovatio bodykit and custom interior.

        All depends on the day it was run. The track is Palm Beach International. Night run. Temps barely fell below 50F on any of the days since the 1st. Cooler than normal, but still positive DA I'm sure. You dont see that big a difference anyhow on a FI car compared to how a NA car would improve. Less if you are running ice.

        Either way, if you are putting down the whp Luke said you can beat this time in +2000 no prob.

        Trunk delete... I wonder who much weight is stripped out of it. Probably all the interior as well.

        I think it might have the interior in tact
        but according to the owner the trunk is "Getting full CF layered in Germany by Mansory...."

        There really isn't all that much to strip out from that interior.

        I'm actually surprised at least the rear fenders aren't taped up! There's a guy who enjoys his car's performance for sure!

        Nice! Looks drama free! It's crazy when you can say your car runs 9s without trying hard. Much different than the Mitsubishi Evo type approach. Destroyed the Vette too. Click here to enlarge
