The B8 RS4 is dead? Model supposedly cancelled

This is a little weird considering we reported the
B8 RS4 model testing as early as July of this year. It was going to be avant only and likely never make it to the USA but still, we are disappointed. Car and Driver states the RS4 has been cancelled in
favor of a next generation C7 RS6. Why can't Audi do both exactly? They want to be treated like premium option and become the number one luxury automaker, don't they? Well it takes more than just raw sales size, sometimes you have to act like a big boy to be treated like one.
Mercedes manages to roll out its AMG models and produce them across practically the entire range. BMW has gotten into this same mold and is making an M version of almost everything. This whole sometimes we get an RS variant and sometimes we don't get an RS variant for a model line is just stupid and inconsistent. Either produce them every generation or stop hyping the RS models especially considering you guys at Audi do not seem capable of producing them consistently or rolling them out through your entire market for that matter.
