• What if? Next generation 2014+ BMW 860csi rendered

Many BMW enthusiasts look back on the 8 series fondly. The model was the top dog of the BMW lineup. The 850csi in particular was a V12 powered beast sitting atop the 8 series model range. This artist decided to go with 860csi for whatever reason for his rendering. Many people have wondered about a new 8 series and here is one take as to what it could look like. Nothing more than a pipe dream but definitely fun to imagine and think about what a modern 8 series would be like.

I am not sure how true this is, but was just reading up on the 850csi - the S70 that mcclaren used in the .... um f1 ... here, check it out - too tired to type:"What the S70 engine is capable of speaks for itself. The guys at McLaren say they could get 1000 hp at 9500 or 10000 rpm from the engine."Nice engine if even 2/3 true. I guess I kind of knew it was an S motor - just never hear people talk about these things anymore. I remember being a young kid, and one driving past my father and I going up to Road America... He never liked BMWs - but for some reason, really loved this car. Click here to enlargeI think I understand why now.

The McLaren motor really has nothing to do with the standard S70.

Ahh, should have read a bit more... You are right - the F1 has the S70/2 and then S70/3 based on the M70, correct? I always thought that the SXXYZZ - was S = motorsport/M - XX was the engine code, Y being type of fuel, and ZZ for displacement. I had no idea there were 3 versions of this thing.

Sounds right but I've been drinking.

The McLaren doesn't really have a connection to that family but let's just roll with it.
