    • Here is the second BMW X6 M50d teaser video

Expect the BMW hype machine to be in full attack mode until the official revealing. Here is second teaser coming shortly after the first which we brought you earlier this month. This one does not exactly give us all that more info except that BMW states this vehicle deserves the M badge as if to defend their decision. Brian Watts, head of M global sales and marketing, stated, "The BMW X6 M50d is a new kind of car. On every road, you feel like you’re on a race track. It deserves the M-badge."

'Don't fear stopping - because you know you can take off again?!!?'They really need a new marketing team... I think it's a cool vehicle - but it's not a "car", and it definitely "doesn't deserve an M badge" if it has a diesel... Just my 2 cents.

It's just hype and propaganda. They are drinking their own Kool-Aid.

You have definately not driven a BMW Diesel... the newer Diesels should have their own motorsport division...

My E60 530d with a remap would take on E60 M5s and hold on to around 120mph !! i don't care if you beleive it... but it's the truth !

I'm not saying it would win, but there was such a slight difference... that the V10 should be ashamed !!!!

I think it's cool they are building this but the old M would have never stuck an M badge on this.

I like this way more than the X6M though.

I have mentioned on this forum before that I would love a 335d. There is one thing that I have a lot of trouble believing however - there is almost no way you can take an M5 from 0-120 - if you would have said 0-30 or 30-50 or something like this, I would believe it.

You are basically saying you can run the quarter mile AND THEN SOME in a shorter time period and distance than a stock M5 with 500 brake horsepower with a 530d and a tune. Not trying to be a jackass, but this is just a ludicrous statement - you would have to more than double your boost to go from 193hp to M5 beating levels... Not saying this isn't possible - but with a remap? Sounds a bit impossible.

Any videos or time slips to prove this bold statement? I would love to see it, but really am not seeing how this could be possible - especially at high speeds/over long distances. Not calling you a liar - just seems near impossible.

@angelico youre right my 335d is tuned by RENNtech and putting 330 hp and over 400 lbs/tq on the wheels. A lot of people have NOT realized that DIESELS are like Wolf in Sheeps Clothing! About using th M logo I gather is a bit to much but, look at it as a NEW perspective maybe BMW is trying to asses themselves as the PREMIER DIESEL car company and start stealing new customers away from Mercedes and AUDI DIESELS. Think of it, these other two dont have that markting M logo in neither of their vehicles here in the USA.

I think you make a good argument as the 335 would have to trap 115 or so.. and that isn't happening with just a tune.

From a dig though that torque certainly helps.

        I never said i beat an M5... i said i would hold on.... best time slip was 13.7 @ 112mph !!

And my car was a stock 235hp version of the 530d E60... older model E39 came with 193hp and newer ones were 218hp...

2003-2005 E60 530d came with bigger turbos, a little laggier but will make 330hp without crazy EGTs

I love the car - it really looks sharp, and again - not knocking anything here...

I really think that the M5 you raced was not trying at all, or there was something wrong with the car.

An M5 runs a 12.5s (IIRC) out of the box, you are 1.2 seconds slower - using the .1sec/car length "rule of thumb", we are talking 12 car lengths in a quarter mile. That is not holding on - that is watching it run away.

Again - not saying this didn't happen - just saying don't put money down that it ever will again. Click here to enlarge

        Cheers.

Did several runs... with the M5... he was always ahead... i'd guess about 1 second ahead on a 1/4 mile basis...

But you have to remember... it is a DIESEL... it is a E60... It is WELL capable !!!!

A little bigger displacement, (how about that V8 from E65 740d?) Twin Turbocharged and we should be rocking 400+hp easy....

Remember that although my E60 did a ~1sec slower time on the 1/4.... it still had 200 less horsepower Click here to enlarge add 100hp and 300nm and we could easily match that M5 time or even beat it... spending less fuel and contaminating the envoirment less Click here to enlarge
