    • New HPF N54 Intake Manifold for both 135i and 335i - Allows secondary fuel system or disabling of direct injection, release May 2012

We have completed our rapid prototype testing and are happy to report that we will be sending our HPF N54 intake manifold off to production next week with an expected genearl release date of May 2012. This new manifold allows everyone to run a secondary fuel system in conjunction with the N54 direct injection or turn the direct injection off and just run a standard fuel system. We will be selling the fuel rails and injectors that fit with our rail but anyone can source their own if they so desire.

For those that are not ready for the fuel rail and injectors, we will be shipping the intake manifolds with pipe tapped plugs in the injector holes. Those that do so can later upgrade and install our fuel system or any other fuel system.

Our previous design had methanol bungs in between the ports. We have removed those from the design. For those that want to run methanol, they can install the methanol nozzle pre intake manifold or they can drill and tap into the intake manifold and mount the nozzle themselves.

We will have our N54 turbo kit running on a 335i in about a week and we are looking forward to getting this intake manifold completed so we can turn the boost up past the direction injection limits. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or email my staff at sales@horsepowerfreaks.com.
      Chris.

It's not that it is a bad thing but it is an unnecessary complexity. The high pressure at which the fuel is injected for example. It just makes things more difficult when you are really wanting to modify these cars to high levels.

        This.

I don't really see why HPF says they'll use the Procede under 500 whp... what's the point of doing this setup for 500 whp? And definitely go with a standalone...

i'd have no problem using secondary port injection for "additional" fuel on top of what DI offers but I'd definitely NOT be inclined in turning DI completely off..that's just going backwards

I guess it all comes down to what you appreciate from your car in the end, in my case, its a high hp DI setup
I have to fully agree with that. We need to embrace the technology, and exploit it as much as possible before giving up on it. There's just not enough support for it... yet.

"Disabling the DI" is not progress for me.A much better solution will be higher capacity injectors and HPFP/LPFP.I mean hell, if port injection is "progress", why don't we go to dual four barrels? It's a band aid for a broken arm.

we are not the first with DI. all that needs to happen is setup aftermarket system that runs at rpmxloadxboostxother variables and stack it on top of DI.

Yeeppp no problem with that although if I were in this business and it wasn't a hobby I'd do my job and contact the right companies to partner with and build a proper DI upgrade...but to me this is just a hobby i.e. great fun but only a non-tax deductible expense which makes it not so fun
