    • DCT Build Part XII - Build complete, pictures of final assembly, transmission cooler, and Viton seals

Well, this has been a rather lengthy road to completion but the transmission is basically complete. The car was dropped off by SSP last month to Gintani who should have the motor in by the end of this week. The problem is SSP mounted their trans cooler in the location the heat exchanger for the supercharger needs to go so SSP will need to come to Gintani's facility to re-run their lines as the cooler will need to go in a different location. What took so long for this update? Well, we have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for SSP to send us details on the Viton seals that required 3 redesigns but never received the information on why these seals are superior to the stock units.

So, I decided to do my own research and here is what I came up with. These are the stock BMW seals used in the DCT. What is wrong with them exactly? We do not know other than they apparently are not up to the task:

Here are the Viton seals which delayed the project by 3 months. Viton is a synthetic rubber used for seals, O-rings, things of that sort. Viton was likely used as it is less susceptible to decay and already used in BMW applications such as in VANOS. Viton has much higher temperature and chemical resistance characteristics than the stock seals. Here is what they look like:

This is the DCT cooler that was mounted by SSP up front. This needs to be moved somewhere else as the supercharger heat exchanger will need to go there. This means SSP will need to come out and run their lines again checking all their fluids and so forth before tuning can take place:

This is the final assembly. So, the transmission is built but it took about a year longer than estimated. I believe I was as patient as possible and hopefully this will all be wrapped up in December with a built motor, built transmission, a YSI, and a ton of horsepower.

Do you have any vids from the no fly zone event or others with your cars? Any dynos as well or more info on them? Which cars did you best or have close wound with at no fly zone? Sounds like you have some serious weapons! Very sweet. I'm really interested to see how much faster they are than other cars I'm more familiar with.

Man if only Benz had a damn DCT I would love to have a high power one. Was looking forward to the new e63 when they said AWD with rear bias and DCT however the DCT plan is totally scratched now. As fun as 1000hp must be, I don't think I would enjoy it enough with the auto. By the time Benz gets a DCT there will probably be ~1000hp M3 setups available. :Click here to enlarge: 1st world problems.

Lots of videos fromNo Fly Zone event of both of my cars, My CLK was the second quickest car at the event, it got beat by a 960whp GT-R and the only cars that beat my C was my CLK and the GT-R. If you can not find the vids on this site just go to YouTube and look up Weisctec's channel. FYI I beat a 1000 hp tt GT 500 a 900whp Supra turbo and a 1000whp tt Z06 so what makes you think I would be affraid of a 1000whp M3???? The problem here is I know exactly what I have and Sticky has no idea what I have. He is going to see in two weeks at Shift Sector though and so is the rest of the world, lets put it this way if sticky was making 900 whp instead of at the crank it still would not be a race, let"s just say I have kinda been sandbagging on my dyno numbers. Sticky is bringing a knife to a gunfight I'm affraid.

Good stuff man - very impressive. Just watched a video against the ESS625/650 kit which I am familiar with and wow! Enjoy man!

BTW my post had nothing to do with the comments between you and Sticky. Wasn't trying to say that you would be afraid of a 1000whp M3. I was saying that with my goal being DCT & 1000whp, by the time Benz has a DCT which I would consider buying, there will probably be just as fast or faster M3 options out there.

Sticky I hope your car is ready soon and can hopefully put out some nice numbers. Beating that C in a straight line is going to be a challenge...

I'll start playing with you guys next year when it's either ~1000whp DCT or TT Gallardo time. Have been keeping an eye out for a low milage already done up UGR...

What I can't figure out is why people are not asking the question why or how these higher horse power cars are being beaten by a CLK which is supposedly down on power. If someone was a betting person they might think the little CLK's are making more horsepower than everyone thinks or what we have advertised......

Chicago wannagofast is sold out...need to be on a waiting list...

So you thought you were going to see a twin screw on the S65 and can't think of a possible reason why that was never an option? Interesting.

It's a very impressive car. This has nothing to do with anything though.

You'll notice blown M3's with DCT tend to hang with more powerful cars...

So I must be an idiot but I am not understanding what you're talking about with posting video of the race.

Mmm what do you have sir!? Not too many cars out there can hang with the stuff UGR puts out. 1500awdhp just sounds silly Click here to enlarge . If all goes as planned that will be the route I take and keep the M3 at it's current power level. I have an ~80 mile daily commute 7 days a week but I'm totally against the idea of a daily beater. My thought is that I love driving so wouldn't I want to enjoy the 1.5hr a day in the car? M3, AMG, & RS are the perfect blend for a daily IMO.

I'm still a year away I figure as I just bought two gas stations that I'm closing on hopefully this week (we all know how closings get delayed....was originally for March 1st). They definitely put a dent in the account and I don't want to make any major purchases in the first year of running them. Won't feel right about it. The time will come though...I'm still relatively young.

        BTW where are ya located?

Im all the way up Rte287,a lil past Mahwah NJ but I work in Newark next to the FBI headquarters/NJPenn station and am all over NJ at any given time lol.

I have a few turbo bikes, nothin crazyClick here to enlarge

On a side note,a yellow UGR TTG crashed today on Sunrise Higway racing a certain, familiar 1300whp GT-R(the one who won the Pocono event last year)Click here to enlarge

It is not a car, it is a bike with a much better power to weight ration than even a UGR car.

        oldgixxer,
Nice...I'm on 78 and 287 up to Wayne every day. Turbo bikes...insane! It's one thing hitting 150+ in a car but in a bike...wow! Well I'll let you know when the time comes. Very sad to hear about the crash - hope everyone was okay. Gotta be careful...never know what can happen.

        JRCart,
Yeah I thought his post said car. Makes a lot more sense...bikes are another game. They are just so light compared to any car out there.
