• DCT Build Part XII - Build complete, pictures of final assembly, transmission cooler, and Viton seals

Well, this has been a rather lengthy road to completion but the transmission is basically complete. The car was dropped off by SSP last month to Gintani who should have the motor in by the end of this week. The problem is SSP mounted their trans cooler in the location the heat exchanger for the supercharger needs to go so SSP will need to come to Gintani's facility to re-run their lines as the cooler will need to go in a different location. What took so long for this update? Well, we have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for SSP to send us details on the Viton seals that required 3 redesigns but never received the information on why these seals are superior to the stock units.

So, I decided to do my own research and here is what I came up with. These are the stock BMW seals used in the DCT. What is wrong with them exactly? We do not know other than they apparently are not up to the task:

Here are the Viton seals which delayed the project by 3 months. Viton is a synthetic rubber used for seals, O-rings, things of that sort. Viton was likely used as it is less susceptible to decay and already used in BMW applications such as in VANOS. Viton has much higher temperature and chemical resistance characteristics than the stock seals. Here is what they look like:

This is the DCT cooler that was mounted by SSP up front. This needs to be moved somewhere else as the supercharger heat exchanger will need to go there. This means SSP will need to come out and run their lines again checking all their fluids and so forth before tuning can take place:

This is the final assembly. So, the transmission is built but it took about a year longer than estimated. I believe I was as patient as possible and hopefully this will all be wrapped up in December with a built motor, built transmission, a YSI, and a ton of horsepower.

The rise is not the point. I merely mention where your car is because I know its bothering you and I do it in a friendly/jokingly way. I use very sarcastic punctuation yet you take very personal offense to this then get pissed off I'm 'demanding updates' even though I'm truly not. Your too uptight about this when I'm simply trying to insert some comedy. If you're sick of people asking don't reply. Don't put it on the internet. As a disclaimer my 'requests' for an update weren't serious.... So where is your car?

I think your sense of style is underdeveloped based on the pics of your car.

I think none of this has anything to do with this thread and you are injecting needless drama.
He does have a lack of class in many areas. He is verbal, many times rightly so when dealing with many of the people on these forums and deceptive marketers. However there is a time when he is also too verbal. I call him a dickhead because he has a track record of it. I've been around the 335i scene for years and have done many things in my past with the E9X platform I'm willing to wager you have not done. These things don't matter however you will attack my personal attraction of carbon fiber and my MORR VS7 rims and ceramic tints and blacklines, which is all you can see in my picture. The carbon fiber was going to be painted over yet I decided to go back to stock body parts before that happened. The MORR rims I can't say that I have actually known a single person that has mentioned they do not like them when their exclusivity, weight and concavity are considered in their time and blacklines are another modification that a vast majority of E90 owners do prefer and I would stand by that now, so what exactly about my style is it that you say is undesireable? The CF splitters were immediately sold off to another individual and were not part of my car for more than a week. I'd like to see what your car looks like and when you even started modifying your car. I was completely finished modifying my N54 in 2009 and still am to this day the only person to have truly 3" catless downpipes and midpipes. I was FBO before people even called it that on the N54, before people knew what autotuning was on the N54. Let me guess, you lease your car? You're correct. None of this has anything to do with any of this and I was posting much like giving sticky a nice playful punch in the shoulder but he's a little sissy and gets flared up which I find comical.

EDIT: Not to mention after looking at the mods your M3 has, I would have smashed you upside down even on stock turbos and you are three years behind, you're already driving last gen.

@Sticky --- Not sure if it's posted anywhere, but what Gintani setup where you running when the DCT started slipping? I know that you said it was the abuse from repeatedly launching that car was what burnt it out, but I'm just wondering if you could run the Stage 3/12.5 psi setup on a DCT without having to upgrade the trans (if you weren't repeatedly launching the car)

If you aren't repeatedly launching the car it will take a pretty good amount. A stage 3 12.5 psi setup will probably start to slip.

He was just saying he read about the car being wrapped up in another thread. There is only 1 build thread.
