    • 2012 Porsche 911 (991) Carrera S test numbers from Insideline - 1/4 mile in 12.7@113

Here are the first performance numbers for the brand new 991 Carrera S. The car has a 394 horsepower 3.8 liter flat 6. The vehicle tested had the 7 speed manual transmission and put up a very respectable 12.7@113. This puts it just slightly ahead of an E92 M3 even with DCT. We expect a PDK version of the 997 Carrera S to run mid to low 12's at around 115 mph meaning in a straightline the vehicle should be just as capable as a standard 996 generation turbo. Impressive? Absolutely.

As much as I love Porsche and I think the new 911 is going to be $#@!ing awesome, these results are not much better that the 1M(Fake M car) inside line tested.

Make no mistake, this car is much faster than a 1M. It is roughly 4 MPH faster and that is just with the manual. The PDK is going to be a BEAST.

At least the 991 Carrera S won't have an OEM charge pipe exploding during weekend track sessions Click here to enlarge

All jokes aside, I can't wait to see the numbers with the PDK! I love how Porsche strives to keep their cars lightweight. Any data out yet on fuel efficiency?
