      BMW launched their own performance parts division not too long ago. Why? To make money, why else. But, these are supposed to be performance parts first and foremost. The performance part seems to be lacking as the BMW Performance Exhaust on this E92 M3 did not even gain two horsepower at the wheels. That is not a typo. Neither is the price at $4374 plus tax and installation. The worst horsepower per dollar performance modification in M3 history? Probably.

      If you intend to buy an exhaust for the E9X M3 and want an actual performance gain, we can suggest many other options for far less than 4 g's. We are thinking of a word BMW should use in conjunction with this exhaust. Let's just say "Performance" is definitely not that word.

        I wouldn't be surprised if the +2 horsepower was just due to adaptations and/or variances in temperature/etc... Pretty sad for 4 grand AND coming from BMW? I really think BMW would have a sizable market if they would do this right - why they won't I have not a clue.

        I was just reading the description of this product on BMW's website, they claim a 20 pound weight reduction - which is decent, but again - not worth 4k or even 1k for that matter. I really don't get it. One other thing I noticed was their claim to "exotic" (my words) metal that is corrosion resistant. Am I correct to recall that the e46 M3 had a stock stainless system?

        Too bad because I think the exhaust sounds great. If it was a $500 option when you ordered the car, then I think this would be a great product.

        2 hp is called signal noise. you cant even be sure the dyno can measure within that resolution on any given day (temp, pressure etc...). the exhaust picked up zero horsepower if you want to get technical.

        To be fair, BMW only claims "Engine performance is increased by up to 5hp and 3 ft-lbs of torque at 6600 RPM" on the website. It also decreases weight roughly 20lbs, and is more heat- and corrosion-resistant. That being said, it's still a hefty price tag to basically change the sound...

        Hefty price tag is right for those claims... which it didn't even hit. Not that 5 hp is much anyway. Much, much better exhaust options out there.

        quite sad indeed....we are currently testing our new E92 exhaust, and hell our titanium price isn't even 4k!

        well interesting! We shall talk....whats done to the car? Might have to throw in product at cost and some free custom dyno tuning if your not tuned.
