• The new and improved BMW S 1000 RR sport bike for 2012

The BMW S1000RR surprised a lot of people when it came out. Nobody expected a BMW sport bike with such stellar performance and cutting edge technology. BMW is not resting on their laurels as they have updated the bike for 2012. The engine is the same 193 horsepower mill with changes to throttle maps for smoother performance. The suspension however has received numerous changes including new springs, forged/milled fork bridge, and the front and rear suspension geometry has changed. There are also more color options. One of the best bikes out there just got even better.

It would be hard to because the engine is very long. Even with tight bore spacing it will be hard to package in a sport bike.

That engine is super compact though and they did it for the concept...

I think I heard somewhere that its width is not that much more than a regular 4 cyl bike engine. But the peripherals are bigger and heavier. I dont think it will make a nimble bike, more like a busa eater. Big and fast in straight lines kinda deal. Still, imagine a high performance version of that engine. 1.6 liter I6 making 260 HP stock.

Insane, don't hear much about the HP2. Might because it costs as much as more cars haha. Would definitely like to get one of these someday. Hopefully they come out with this by then.

Great bike. Actually a great value too, when you compare it to other bikes with similar technology.

Such a sick concept, they have to do it just to prove BMW is still badass. Even if it is bikes instead of cars.

I rode my buddys '11 S1000RR last weekend, its OK but IMO it has no real power below 10k&zero torque because the high state of tune from the factory has the powerband so high in the rev range. I prefer bikes with more grunt. As powerful as the S1000 is up top,my buddys old '04 ZX-10R w pipe&tune (60,000mi on it no less) was able to stay dead even w the BMW from a 60mph 2nd gear roll to 175mph where the BMW finally managed to put 1/2 a bike on it. Its a nice bike&already has a huge fanboi following;its just my cup of tea. All the electronics take the fun out of riding it IMO.

Yeah Sticky,it'd make an awesome first bike LOL!!!

Nice to know the real BMW engine building spirit is still alive somewhere.

The electronics are likely why it could be a first bike.

Dont get me wrong, the electronics help *BUT*,if you grab a fist full of throttle at the wrong time it will still plant you in the woods or into the guardrail instantly. Did you see the vid I posted last week doing a top end run w the S1000RR? It accelerates brutally fast even w the electronic aids on;IMO it is a horrible first bike but people still buy them&learn to ride on em so to each his own.

LOL,the last time I posted my opinion on electronic aids for first time riders I got flamed hard.

I know it's too much bike for a first timer, but just look at the damn thing.
