      This car will be making its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show coming up in the next two weeks but Alpina decided to release a small handful of photos early. Nothing shocking here, same 4.4 liter twin turbo V8 motor with 507 horsepower as the B7. Alpina changes the turbos on the standard N63 V8 as well as the pistons and rods for a unique setup. Everything else is typical Alpina with the traditional wheels and subdued body work. We have to wonder though, why buy this when the M6 is right around the corner? Seems rather pointless as the B7 makes more sense since there is no M7 model from BMW.

        Pointless. in past if you wanted a V8 M5/M6, you would go to Alpina but what about now?
        Alpina was much more innovative in the past, like Hamann and ACS but for an unknown reason it seems these big BMW tuners downgraded.

        Alpina used to do cooler stuff I agree but they do quality work. I just see no reason to want this over an M6.

        The subtle qualities of the Alpina are lost on people that think an M car is better. They adhere to the "Q-ship" philosophy. Alpinas interior alone is worthy of the price of admission. And then when you get to the suspension bit, the suspension engineers work "magic" with how the 5,6 & 7 work perfectly on all most all road surfaces in addition to a staggered 21" rim & tire package! BMW really needs to look into their suspension setup. They could use a little more visual drama though.And BMW does not need to make an M7 since they let Alpina do that, so to speak. But an M7 would ridiculously cool. Alpina is actually not a tuner, they are certified by the German government as a manufacturer.

        The high quality is cool, but is it cool enough to distract you from seeing the M car which dusted you in every spec?

        I don't classify Alpina as a manufacturer because they are dependent on BMW. The German government loophole only exists if you produce a certain number of vehicles.

        The M car will be better. Who would rather have this than an M6?
