      It is videos like this that make many of us hesitant to bring our cars to dealers for work. Dealers then wonder why owners are so anal about the mileage on their cars when dropped off. Well, frankly, after seeing this we should all likely be far more cautious choosing a local dealer making absolutely certain they have reputable/mature emlpoyees. What happened is a Pacific BMW employee took a BMW 1M coupe for a spin through a residential neighborhood going full throttle in a car that did not belong to him. Like the genius he is, he had his friend film it and put it up on Youtube. By the time the video was removed from Youtube, mirrors were up.

      City officials are already attempting to ascertain the identity of the driver in order to charge him with reckless driving through residential streets. The account that originally hosted this video had other videos showing similar antics meaning this was likely not the first time this happened. Pacific BMW has stated it has dealt with the employee which hopefully means they are looking for work somewhere else. Take this entire episode as a warning gentlemen. I doubt members here would respond kindly to seeing their car taken for a spin without permission by a dealer employee.

      Edit: The general manager of Pacific BMW in Glendale, Steve Lindstrom, did confirm that the employees were fired.

        I would be furious... That car looked near brand new, assuming it was - this car should be returned to BMW and not sold to anyone. I am not saying they destroyed the engine, but I (personally) wouldn't touch the car - especially considering how stringent BMW's break-in procedures are. What a bunch of a$$holes. "Wow - it's quick".The dealer should buy the car from BMW - and not be able to sell it to anyone... They should also keep the keys locked from morons like this. I worry everytime I bring my M in for service that "people" will take it out... F***ing idiots.Cheers.

        A friend of mine took his E36 325iC to have some work done. None of it required a road test. He noticed that there was an "extra" 100 miles more on the odometer when he went to collect it. I would have lost my mind, but he was surprisingly cool about it but not happy.New E82 1M and some fools are driving it fast on streets and not their car! Glad they got fired.

        Stuff like that happens all the time. Years ago I was driving on the Southern Parkway here on L.I. which is a 3 lane highway. And there were 2 identical white Audi TT's still had the wrapping on them both with dealer plates and racing. They were slicing through car, using off ramps to pass cars and to get back on the parkway. It was pretty crazy driving. A lot of these cars get abused before they make it to the owners hands because the dealerships hire these 20 year olds who have no respect for others property and they just want a cheap thrill on someone else's dime.

        They inspected it and said it was fine but I wouldn't want to buy it. I hope they disclose this all to the buyer.

        I'm willing to bet it was a plublicity stunt gone wrong in an attempt to garner attention to the fact they have two 1M's in stock.

        Wow that pissed me off. Working for a dealership I would never do this to a new car let alone a used car that some one would eventually purchase or was having serviced with us. Damn these kids for giving me a bad reputation, glad they were fired.

        I would buy it, but give me a $10k discount on it, if they don't want to, then $#@! them. Those $#@! ass BMW dealership peons tend to love playing with our vehicles. The other day I dropped off my car to have my windshield replaced, and when the service advisor went outside to check out my odometer, I heard him revving my car a little. WTF!!?? maybe he got excited when he saw the exhaust. I didn't say $#@! since the car was hot, and also it made me feel good he liked it lol. Not the first time this has happened though.........

        These are the same people who wanted $40k over sticker when they have these kids working for them. They have to be out of their minds.
