    • Another low 11 second Rob Beck turbo upgraded N54, OldBooster runs 11.3@123 in his E82 135i

      Well, the low 11 second runs keep coming from upgraded turbo N54's which means 10's are just around the corner. First, congratulations to OldBooster who did this run on the upgraged turbo only, no nitrous. It is also important to note that this run was done in pretty poor conditions as it was hot out. Track temps were around 110 and humidity was 90+. Mods on the car are a dual CM10 meth setup, JB4 running map 6, drag radials, and of course the Rob Beck upgraded turbos. Will be great to see what happens in cooler weather.

        IIRC it went back to normal for awhile and then returned if you cleared the code. He's an auto. I think what happened was mid burnout the motor started loading down, car rolled forward a bit, tires hit more water and broke loose, and the momentum of everything carried the revs up well over 7200rpm, and then it started misfiring. I've actually done the same thing a few times with our 135i but haven't floated a valve yet. I'll definitely be more careful next time out.

        Let me be the first to thank Terry for being so up front and drama free with the information on the down engines. It is both appreciated and respected
        Drama isn't really my style. At OB's power levels it's never been a matter of if something will break but when. It's just part of racing. I'm looking forward to confirming my suspicions when I get a chance to inspect whatever parts failed and helping him build it stronger.

        Sucks that it happened but it eventually will as limits are pushed...i'll be taking the valve cover and cams off in the next week or two to see if there's any obvious issues in/around the valves as to why cyl 5 might be intermittently misfiring...the only thing that'd suck is being unable to build it stronger when/if you find the issues so the same problem doesn't reoccur...

        OB started smoking a lot more than it normally did a couple weeks ago. Could be a head gasket, piston, turbo, all three, etc. He hasn't been able to tear it down and check yet.

        Oh for sure, just saying when options aren't available...look at the 6MT gear box...can't be rebuilt as parts aren't sold to rebuild them

        Any idea what codes were thrown and if there was a half engine light for OB?
