      Been itching for an upgrade to your SLS AMG? Of course you have. Some may say $8,200 is a lot of money and well, they are right. These headers have 200 cell cats built into them which explains part of the cost. Honestly, hard to justify $8,200 on headers considering the 63 AMG header market but the SLS is a lower production vehicle than say a C63 with a much higher price tag. The headers are also ceramic coated. Gains are claimed as +20 horsepower but we would like to see a dyno.

        If I may say... and please If If someone feels I'm seeing things please correct me. No really I mean it with all sincerity. Correct me if I'm wrong or you see something I don't. This header system looks like the one EVOtech released a while ago. Except the EVOtech header was warped in a metal heat shield and the cats are different and in different locations. Also what ever happened to the Renntech SLS headers they released before? Those were of a totally different design. Being able to see to see their fabricator's original set offered to the public. Then this set? It's a complete 180 when it comes to header design. From their first set to this set.

        I have always said, When you coat a header that is offered to the public. More times then not, it means mild steel was used in the construction. What does that mean? It mean you have $300 worth of material in a set of headers and $200 in coating. So why hasn't Renntech said what their headers are made of? Why does the design look like EVOtech's. The way I see it is... I smell something and it stinks like fish. Remember these headers are coming from the same company trying to sell you a $275 BMW intercooler pump (X6M) for your Mercedes for $2000. If you don't believe me go buy an intercooler pump for the the new V8 TT BMW and see what you get.

        Not bashing here, but somethings the light needs to be shined on what you get for your money. When it comes to your Mercedes.

        In partnership with the OEM manufacturer, RENNtech further improved on the BMW pump and developed a proprietary unit which offers an even greater flow rate for the ultimate in both efficiency and performance. Both the RENNtech pump and BMW unit may be similar in both appearance and dimensions, but the similarities stop there. These units are manufactured exclusively for RENNtech, and offer extensive internal modifications and upgraded electronic internals which allow our pump to outperform anything else on the market. Our latest intercooler pumps are controlled utilizing sophisticated, proprietary, solid state electronics allowing the units to consume minimal power with the pump rated at 125 watts. This is an important factor as too much power consumption as found on other pumps on the market we tested can strain the vehicles electrical system; leading to faults in the multitude of sensitive electrical/charging computer controlled systems.

        During extensive testing and in a head to head comparison with the BMW pump, the BMW units flow 6.4 G.P.M. @ 8.7 P.S.I with the RENNtech pump flowing an impressive 8.7 G.P.M. @ 11.6 P.S.I. It should also be noted that as operating pressure increases, pump flow velocity dramatically decreases; our pump is rated not only at a higher flow rate but at a more realistic system operating pressure. This increase in flow dramatically removes heat from the incoming air; allowing for a denser air/fuel mixture and substantially cooler charge air temperatures over the entire operating range.         Going back to the main topic, the header pictures do look different from the ones posted earlier, so I'm not sure whether RENNtech revised their design or is it simply an illusion of how the picture is taken? And regarding the pumps, it looks like even though the RENNtech pump looks so close to the BMW pump, they are indeed different in performance, power consumption, output, etc...
