• HPF (Horsepower Freaks) Targets 1100 rwhp with their Stage 5 BMW E46 M3 S54 turbo kit

We just ordered up the turbo for our stage 5 turbo kit. We are going to go with the Garrett GTX4508R with the Tial V-Band Exhaust Housing and 1.0 A/R. With our extreme internals and sleeved blocks, we feel this turbo will suit nicely. We will create the tunes on both the AEM platform and the ProEFI platform. Part of our turbo manifold is already completed, but since we changed turbos, we have to alter the design slightly for the larger Garrett GTX4508R. We hope to have results later this month.

Here's a list of the Garrett product lineup:

More stats on the Garrett GT45 (Note: The "X" option isn't on this page):

Images of the Tial Housing on a Garrett GT42... Note, the GT45 we are running is larger.

We saw the car idling, right? At least it can idle, it's better than NOTHING.

Yes there are more S54's out there than S62's. but what about S65? there are more S65's out there and also average S65 owners are wealthier than S54 owners.

I agree. I'm just saying there is a big difference between a completed turbo setup and a video showing it idling.

S65's are expensive and still in their warranty period. Not to mention largely owned by pussies leasing them.

Getting way off topic. I see where all the posts come from..

        Here's a few

My car was (might still be) the only S54-E36 car on the East coast running properly on a hybrid combination of two factory wiring harnesses to an aftermarket ECM. Almost everything in the car works, it's my DD. It was not easy.

I will also claim I-Technica Motorsports and Alboriginal parts were the first in the nation to get the double vanos working on a street car on an affordable standalone ECM set up (Thank you DTA). People using AEM's failed miserably. People using Motec's and Bosche's spent 10-18k, and those were all competitive track cars. It's one of two S54 E36 M3 street cars (by this I mean cars you can actually DD) in Georgia right now. This again, is because it's not easy but is entirely possibly now with companies releasing factory flashing options if you have patients and several thousands of $ for the MSS54 flash to make it work

The Racers Market is right down the highway. I have been road racing with their software engineers for 8 years

Technica Motorsports is right down the road. 600rwhp OBD2 cars... I have known Bret and Jordan for years, Bret being a family friend for over 10 years.

The only point here is I know what goes into developing working software for difficult projects, and I understand why HPF might've backed away from the M5

        Not a worry.

To build a one off kit, thats really pretty simple. Our staff is more than capable to build a one off kit for almost any car. The problem is, it has to be put into production. It has to be replicated over and over again, be reliable for daily use (keep in mind there would have been a warranty on it) and be able to make the HP figures to justify the price. It also has to be affordable. The way things were looking, the set up would have been more or less inefficient, and quite spendy.

It wasn't about software, we had the car up and running on the same EMS our E46 M3 uses. Tuning is what we did first on the E39.

Factory DME E36 S54 swap, nice, very nice. Have we seen this car? At least I think we have somewhere else.

My car is not a factory DME computer, but it retains the double vanos and has very good drivability. The harness is a hybrid of two factory harnesses made by Alex Lipowich (Alboriginalparts) and the swap-assembly was done by Technica Motorsports. They have been using the standalones on Euro E36 alpha-N car for years and it's a good option (thanks to the cars it was developed on) for those interested in that type of set up/tunability with the S54 as i'm mainly doing road course stuff).

It's true alfpha-N and has a mechanical throttle.
